So here my problem.. These three bolts that hold the strut in are broke.. One is all the way broke off and the other two are stripped.. So what I need to know if I can buy an strut from an lt cobalt and put my drop spring on will it be the same... I cant find an used ss/sc strut.. Thanks

 

the top hats are all identical.

Torque specs are low on those nuts, like 20 sumthing lb/ft, I guarantee they were over-torqued.

yep, that's what identical means right? Just swap the top hat, nothing else.

 

Can I replace the whole strut and put my spring on this ls strut. I don't want to just replace the top hat I want the whole strut piece.. But if it is the best ill just replace the top hat.. thanks man

 

Well you have FE5 struts, the LS uses FE1, your handling will be all kinds of fucked up with that one strut in there. Why don't you want to replace the hat?

 

Truthfully I don't know how and never did before..

 

what did you do when you installed the springs on it now? Same process, now you're just swapping the top hat.
