Exclamation Stuck Brake Caliper

So I got to work this morning and the driver side - rear caliper was smoking. Must be stuck. Any ideas on how to fix/prevent this? I dont want to drive it another 20 minutes home on the highway, should be able to look at it during lunch... any help would be great.

There isn't much you can do. You can pull off the caliper clean it out and inject full of synthetic grease but that doesn't help too much cause then you have to get the grease out.

Try to compress the cylinder with a c-clamp and have a helper stomp on the brakes to see if the piston then comes out. If not, then you'll have a fun time rebuilding it or getting a new one.

BTW, you should have a mechanic do the brake bleed b/c of ABS. It likes to scream at you if there is even one bubble in the system.

C-Clamp will not work on the rear caliper.
It's the newer type that screws in, but yours may be the older style.

If you take the pads out and see 2 holes about 1/4" diameter in the piston it's the screw type.

Yes, its the screw type caliper. I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a fix I could do in the parking lot. I dont know if i'll have all the tools to take off the entire caliper at work. Thanks for the replies tho.
