Tein

Does anyone on this forum know anything about TEIN springs for a Balt SS/SC?

If you have any info or experience with the ride or drop lmk please. I feel like they should be a good alternative to the Eibachs

If you want superior handling get Pedders. I'm pretty sure they'll fit on your car also.

Tein will drop the car 1.2 in the front and 1.3 in the rear. We have sold a few sets and people have been very happy.

Alright. I know the Pedders are by far the best handling springs, but they just dont offer the drop I want. I think its like less than an inch in fact. So I've heard good things about eibachs but nothing about TEIN

Pedders drop you 1.5" in the front, and 1.6" in the rear.

I haven't heard anything bad about any of Tein's products, but I have heard good things about them especially their coilovers for other cars that is not for Cobalts.

Thats what I've been told atleast. lol I'd prefer stock height though, because I'm not fond of bottoming out. lol

Thats what I've heard too. Pedder's look stock. I'd rather maintain stock handling and get have lower ride. Basically the dilema is: Which springs offer the best ride quality for roughly a 1.5inch drop

most people will tell you switch the pedders and tc struts.... its a wise choice. it seems everyone with the lsj is happy with eibachs but i personally think their springs are garbage.

WRONG FORUM.... Go on a import forum and ask. TeIn's are amazing. I only have coilover experience with them tho... and they were on imports(2 Hondas and a Nissan). Also check out the issue of Project Car Magazine that has the TeIn crew on the front cover, they have a lot of information on how that company works in there and how they do more mesurements and calculations than the suporting vendor's products combine.

I am attempting to hold out for their track setups to come out for the balt. I have been waiting 3 long years...

I owned two Hondas prior to my Cobalt, and among the tuners TEIN is the one of the best names in suspension. I was surprised to find the little info/experience owners had with them on this forum, no big deal though. I'm thinking about just doing a set of S-techs, and then going with the TC struts later on.

I would imagine the stock struts can hold lowering springs for a while. I've only got 65k on the car. With a 1.5in drop anybody think I'll bottom out?

S Techs +Tc struts sound like a good combination but from my experience with thier springs they seem a little soft. Havent experienced them on a cobalt so I cant comment directly but it seems they gear thier springs more towards looks and ride quality instead of performance.

Oha nd your struts will be fine, just dont cut the bumpstops. I have been riding with a 2F/2.5R drop for almost 35k miles now.

Ahh good deal. I'd rather have good ride quality ride height over the performance of say a Pedders spring. How difficult is the spring install on these cars?

You need a spring compressor for the fronts. Unless your name is Maven

I have used that line before lol.

Lee you're in the area (and probably more experienced then me), would you be willing to help me put them on? I'm gonna take one for the team and get TEIN S-Techs. Hopefully they'll live up to their reputation and I can provide good feedback for anyone who looks to get them in the future.

Im not skilled enough to do the fronts without a spring compressor lol. Suburban auto has one on 17 and they are reasonable with pricing. I know the manager pretty well. My work schedule sucks really bad right now so I don't know when I would even have time to help you.

You can do it either way. A spring compressor is the ideal route but I have done a few installs without them. It isnt hard as long as you have the right tools. Working with basic hand tools(no air) it shouldnt take you more than 2 hours. Hell, the rears only take 10 minutes.
