tenzo r bump stops
tenzo r bump stops
i have tenzo r springs installed in my car and i want to cut the bump stops can i do it with out taking out the springs and when i do cut them do i just take the whole bump stop out or cut half
You dont need to completely remove the strut
Just jack up the front of the car to where you can get your hands into the wheel well and you will be a little black boot on the strut and inside of that boot will be the bump stops i used a screw driver and pulled out the bump stop and cut them with a steak knife and pushed the bump stops back into the boot and lower that side of the car and moved to the other side and did it all over one more time
When i cut mine all i left was one of the small loops of the bump stops

Here is a good writeup with pictures of the bumpstop cut. I know you said you want to do it while on the car just do as slowcobaltss did but dont saw into the polished metal surface of the strut. Its best to take them off if you can.

Im going to try this tonight, hopefully you can get in the spring while the car is jacked, I have megans so there is a bit more bind so it might be hard to reach through them. If not ill just wait till I get new springs.
what are you guys lowered on that you need to cut one of these off? I am on CM springs and didnt cut mine, i rarely bottom out and when I do its a really deep dip in the road on a 70mph highway.
that is what i am wondering, the car if lowered will likely hit the bump stops sooner. So you would need to cut off more of the bump stop. I ask cause I would like to be a little lower than the CM are giving me.
Edit i was lowered on Teins
I cut my bump stops all around last night, maybe about a 3/4 of an inch all around. I only put 7-8k on my car a year so if "Your struts will **** in 20k" It will take 2 years or so to happen, and ive got an extra set of shocks/struts so im not worried.
Car SERIOUSLY rides better. But its been confirmed my springs have lost most of their rates, so I just did this to buy some time until I replace the springs. And where I live the potholes ******* SUCK! every day theres like 6-7 unavoidable massive manholes I have to hit on the way to work that I used to slam on, now I don't! (unless im going 60mph)
