Tire weight

It seemed more appropriate to post this question here than in tires so here goes. I am looking at some tires and a set I am leaning towards weigh 28lbs a piece. I like the stock conti's (CSC2's weigh in at 23lbs) for the ss/tc. I have had Conti Extreme contact DWS on the car (21lbs per tire) and Goodyear Eagle GT's (26lbs) and was curious just how heavy is too heavy for a tire as far as handling performance is concerned. I know lighter is better but some tires hit 30lbs and I wasn't sure if that was going to be noticeable coming off of the finally toasted CSC2. Truth be told, I liked the Eagle GT in every measure save for snow performance over the DWS but am not sure if say, 4 more pounds per tire was going too far. Stock wheels and thanks in advance.
