Traction bars

Has anyone installed the Bwoody traction bars on their SS/SC? I'm thinking of going this route instead of the ETD. What are the pros and cons of it?

I know its a completely different part but I'm just wondering if it will take care of wheel hop without giving the vibrations I've heard the ETD does

i'd think you'd get more vibrations from the road with Traction bars, i don't have them, so i dunno for sure, but they won't transmit engine vibs like the torque damper and the urethane engine mounts because they have nothing to do with engine movement. They will help solidify your control arms though.

Ive had the ETD.... TTR Motor mounts are waay better. I also have the trans bushings... yes, there are some SLIGHT vibs, but Nothing i can't live with... I'm looking to go to these trac bars also in the spring so I say you should do all 3!

if you don't want any vibrations, don't touch the mounts or anything else. there's going to be an affect for mods, that's the way it is. do an exhaust, car gets louder. do traction mods, the car will vibrate. if you're worried about the vibes, then just leave it stock i would say. too many people put things on their car and then complain about them. vibration is a side effect of making things stiffer on the car. basically, you're keeping in place something that wants to move.

the traction bar's work by bolting the subframe to the controll arm. making it not move(the controll arm). it will not vibrate. if it does it's no good. but this will not help you put HP and TQ to the ground.. solid motor mount's will put it all to the ground.traction bar's are for off the line. motor mount's get's you better 60 foot's. i know ive had em both on my car. and still snapped an axel cause the driver side t bar came loose after 16 run's.. tranny insert's are a WASTE of money. cause your still using the stock powercast crap mount's.. now there's jus less give to the factory mount which mean's it will crack/break easier.. to get atleast 3 tenth's off your 60 foot and ET get both solid motor mount's AND t bar's. (full race t bar's)

Traction bars are OKAY many complain they "squeak" a lot. We dont make traction bars, yet at least.

We do manufacture a solid upper engine mount which has been rated the best upper engine mount many times on this forum.

PM us with questions.

Yes Best Motor Mount. I suggest there trans mounts also.

some people when installing the full race bar's didnt grease them enough. and got squeeking. bwoody released an update for them which included a boot to cover the joint and a new greasing procedure along with updated hardware. as far as TTR's tranny mount's if it's an insert for the stock mount's its just as junk as the stock mount's them selves.. and if you guy think you can break a bwoody motor mount i beg you to try. they are on 900+ whp SRT4's with hundred's of drag launches and not a single one has ever broken. running all three solid mount's will give you vibes. i mean you jus basically bolted the motor to the front subframe and well motor's vibrate. not trying to trash TTR but IIRC bwoody is the only maker of all three solid mount's. i never once had squeeking or bad vibration's. i liked the vibration's and so did my GF at the time.

i believe zzperformance has a full set of mounts as well, and their's are billet aluminum, but no traction bars.

Gonna go with the ITD and traction bars thanks guys. To those with the bars that came loose a good rule of thumb would probably be to tighten them every time you do an oil change.

i had the older version and they squeaked. make sure you get the new version where bwoody fixed that problem. and td + tb's is a good combo, but you will still get some wheel hop. gl

I've been running the 1'' Cobalt-addiction traction bars since Thursday of last week. They have done an excellent job at removing wheel hop all together. Yes they squeek, but some grease or rubber should take care of it.

Currently running a 2.9 pulley setup with these and its just awesome.

i do alot of road racing. would the traction bars inhibit the travel of the lower control arm? or take away from the overal handeling of the carin anyway?

How are they for daily driving? I'm thinking of doing this instead of the control arm inserts since it's easy to install and remove for warranty work.

Good. Can you feel them through the car/steering wheel over bumps? I don't care about the squeaking noise. So long as they're not harsh, I'll order me a set within the next few weeks. I'll do whatever it takes to eliminate the dreaded wheel hop.

No, the car feels normal with them on. You won't even know they're on. Then again I have coilovers, sway bar, and front strut tower bar.

I recommend you grease them as soon as you install them. The squeek otherwise is really annoying. But they do a nice job at getting rid of hop. Now I floor it and the tires spin haha

NO TRACTION FTL!!!
