trouble decompressing rear piston

im putting some Hawk HPS pads on and im having trouble decompressing the rear brake piston. it wont budge. i had no problem w/ the fronts so im assuming it has something to do w/ the e-brake? i tried removing the spring but still nothing. do I remove the whole e-brake bracket off of the end of the caliper?

you need a special tool autozone or pepboys have them they are like 10 bucks the rears need to be turned in not compressed in

i have heard the same thing. you are supposed to actually "screw" it back in. i think it has something to do with the e-brake, but i may be way off on that part.

Correct and correct. The rears screw in / out, this is to allow the e-brake to adjust. Would really suck if you had to keep pulling the handle higher and higher as the pads wore out

Hopefully you have the e-brake off

One side is clockwise, the other side is counter-clockwise.

i just did mine an hour ago, they were both clockwise.

i found as well as needlenose pliers work, using a pair of regular plies is better, it doesnt want to slip off as easy.

Well there are different types of needle nose pliers. So I guess it just depends on what the ends look like. Yea they should be clockwise to make them go in, I don't know what the other guy is talking about lol.
