Question Trouble reinstalling Koni struts

I've got the inserts all set back up, they just won't go back in the car nicely. The problem is the bolt that is now on the bottom of the strut keeps hitting the axle and limits where I can move it. If anyone knows the best method for getting these back in please let me know

I've never had a problem getting them in and out. First, you're using the allen bolts that Koni provided right? They're relatively low profile, and should have been tightened before putting the strut assembly back onto the car.

As for getting the strut assembly back on the car, I loosen the rear control arm bolt. The big honkin bolt. I also loosen the front control arm bolts some if I'm having a tough time, but usually the rear is enough. Most people probably don't need to loosen them though. I do it because I have PRS bushings for the leading and trailing control arm bushings.

I never had a problem getting mine in and out, matter of fact I had both bolts back out a bit on me a couple of times with plenty of room. Try turning the wheel while supporting the hub unit to give you more clearance.

I've got both bushings replaced as well. I can get the top three in no problem and even get the knuckle in the strut bracket but once thats in the strut is too low to align those two bolts in. If I were superman and could simply compress the strut an inch that'd do the trick

Not sure if i can imagine this right but in the past when i had to lift something heavy or get something compressed upwards i just put the jack under it and lifted it as the jack will give enough pressure to compress to a point...Im not sure if that would work in your case, so please don't judge me just making a suggesstion lol

Tried that with a few different and innovative (read: ghetto) pieces. I'm gonna loosen the bushings tomorrow, lowering the knuckle will achieve the same goal

Anyone know the torque specs for both bushings? I think the rears are 138 lbs

edit: success! Undoing the cabs did the trick perfectly
