turbo Cobalt vs evo

does a 2008-2010 cobalt ss turbo handle near as good as a evo 8, or 9?
if not how bad does the cobalt compare to an evo

I've owned a lot of nice handling cars, including both the SS TC and an Evo 8. From the factory, the Evo handles better. With work, they're both very capable cars. I had an easier time getting the Evo to rotate with a big rear bar. The SS TC just does not want to rotate easily.

with my mods I was .1 second from a tuned evoX on a hill climb. He is a racing instructor. The other evo, sti, audi and lotus guys were slow as hell. 90% with cars like this are drivers.

pretty sure stock for stock the evo lost to the cobalt in the C&D virginia international racetrack time trial... so a underpowered car with FWD somehow beat an evo? and a second or 2 behind a M3?

yes the TC is comparable to the evo, idk why people are saying its a ford pinto ... yes its an econo car but with a suspension and a great engine.

Sure people will mention the lightning lap..Yes the Cobalt won though the Evo had faster speeds coming out of the turns/etc. If you look at the breakdown the Cobalt beat it in the straights.

Could mean less about the straights when the discussion is about the actual handling.

i love when people brush off actual tests, so i guess its no accomplishment and the cobalt is still a POS even though it laid a smack in the face to alot of "better" cars and came within 2 seconds of a BMW at VIR a track well known and a great test ground.

its like seriously?

its no 0-60/skid pad/lane change/100-0 brake test this is an actual comparison at what these cars were built to do... but its a pinto and nothing more haha

not saying the cobalt is all around better but its comparable to a **** ton of "out of league" performance cars.

*liked*

Although OP if you're picking between the two I'd probably take an evo. Not that I don't love my car the evo just has so much more potential. The Cobalt is a great FWD car, maybe one of the best all around FWD performance cars ever made but FWD is always gonna be a handicap compared to RWD and AWD

IMO the Evo has more capability but at the end of the day it all depends on the driver.

I'm not talking **** about the Evo I find them sexy as hell but a cobalt is in it's league and gives it a run for it's money. Turbo swapped cobalts can put down 500-600 easy just need internals too. Every car can be made into a monster... Just my .02

Not to be a dick (I like the LNF/LSJ) but how many are strolling around with 500-600whp on this forum? I haven't even been checking into built trans options for you guys lately so I can't say anything on that, though last time I looked there was pretty much nothing. 500-600whp isn't exactly easy or cheap.

Yes, they are in the same class stock and lightly modded. However the Evo has the aftermarket to go much further reliably then the Cobalt does... For now anyways.

....um..if I were to race more frequently on the track I would take a evo. As much as I love my TcSS and it performs great...the fwd sometimes sucks.

Evom.net has tons of 600hp evos. Its normal to them and seems for reliable. Here if you have an 500hp cobalt your god lol and I dont see any 600hp DD balts like I see evos.
But I still lovessss my cobalt
