Uneven tread

I was looking at my car the other day in the garage and i noticed that my back tires are wearing unevenly. I am not sure what that could be on the back of these cars. It is not lowered or anything. No issues from that.

Thanks
Mike

Didn't you have a control arm bushing issue in the past? I seem to remember you posting about having a clunk or something...

this is going to sound a little weird, but strictly speaking about the rear tires: is it and "even" wear, or do you notice an even wear pattern, like more wear on one side of the tires?

when you say the inside of the tires, do you mean the center part of the rubber? perhaps some pics might help.

are you sure it's just that one side, or is there another wear pattern on the opposite end of the tire? If there is, it could either be that your rear tires are under inflated or your shocks are blown...

check to see if there's any fluid leaking around your shocks, almost like an oily, muddy substance. You may need a flashlight to see.

i really want to say that it is blown shocks. because when i go over a bump my car will slam really hard in the back.

do a bump check. Put your weight into the rear and if it doesn't settle after one bounce, then most likely you've got blown shocks. How many miles you got on ur whip? If it's low enough, then you can still get it warrantied.

if it is not the shocks what could it be. I checked my tire pressure everyday before i went to work and it was always fine.

shouldn't be anything else. Not with what you described. Unless you don't keep up with your tire rotation schedule and these used to be up front. IDK bro, just saying cause I don't know your habits. No one touches those rears for alignments either.

I didnt rotate and balance these tires but they have to be exact is 9300 on them. they were never on the front.

take it to the dealer then and have them insect your shocks. That's way low mileage for shocks to blow, so they should warranty them. Unless you mean that's just how long the tires have been on the car.

Toe out in the back would wear the insides of the tire faster than the outside. That said, with this beam rear end I'm not sure that you can get toe out unless it's bent. Never bothered looked under the back of the car to be honest. Just throwing ideas out there for smarter people to think about.

get the alignment check out... i bet rear toe is out like sox-fan said. if it was shock the tires would be chopped. it sounds like alignment is out and a lack of rotation. what type of tires are they?

9,300 miles and the inside edges of the tire are already showing more wear than the center or outer edges?

That is not good. I'm at 32 thousand miles and they are perfectly even across. Go have your alignment checked before you ruin the things.

yeah man get that check and you should roate every 5-6k or even 3k... you can never rotate to much the only bad thing is once a wear pattern is in a tire it will not go away... the tire will still wear that way even with the alignment set...

Very true, but you can darn sure keep it from getting worse.

I think that rotating them every 3k is a bit more often than necessary though.

Curious? Are you keeping a lot of weight in the trunk?

you should rotate your tires every two oil changes (roughly 6-10k miles). And there's no way to set toe in the rear. The only way alignment is off in the rear is if a major suspension component is damaged.
