very loud bang while driving!!!!

so i am driving home from work and while accelerating through the end of a turn i hear the loudest bang i have ever heard! i think to my self what the hell was that! then while i am driving i hear a lot of rattling around underneath. it sounds like my exhaust hitting something so i continue the drive. i am only 3 minutes away from home at this point. well i get home and look under the car and this is what i see....

yup that is my rear shock just hanging in the wind against my wheel.....FML

more pics...

the threads dont look striped out at all. i had the bolt torqued down so it either broke or backed out. ordered new ones already. but the car will be down for a couple weeks......

yeah the bang seriously scared the **** out of me lol. sorry about the huge pics i changed them....

those are ARK DT-P coilovers. yeah it was the stock bolt. i kind of want to try to find it to see if it backed out or broke.

i also have to get that wheel re-balanced now to. with it against the inside of the rim it knocked about half my weights off.....

If it broke, there would still be half a bolt in there. It most definitely backed out. Just stick a new one in there and make sure it's good and tight this time.

not always, depends on where it broke. Because he kept driving it after the break it could of fallen out after. but it most likely backed out, use a little blue (not red) loctite.

Damn man, I could imagine it was LOUD! next time use the red loctite for the bolt, that will keep it from moving

Get Longer Grade 8 bolts and put a nut on the back side instead of using just the threads on the rear axle housing.

red will lock it forever (or until you get an BFW) the blue does a good job locking the threads, from walking out, but you still can remove the bolt with a little force.

I have too, it just takes a bigger breaker bar, and depends on how clean the threads where to start. Blue holds pretty good too, just not as difficult to break loose again with a wrench.

Ok so I guess I will use blue then. I will have to change the height twice a year so that will be easier to use.
