vibration after lowering

Hey guys, I lowered my car on Stance Gr+ coilovers a few weeks back ( got rid of all the wheel gap so its fairly low. But ever since I did I get vibrationat low speed accelerations, and around 120 KM/H, any idea what this could be. I didnt have it before I lowered it. The car is an 06 ss/na a/t sedan if that helps.

thanks guys

I was going to say the same thing, sounds like you may have changed the angle of the axle joints significantly enough to cause binding and/or vibrations.

Take some pics of the drop, I love seeing Balts with no wheel gap. Also that is the axles binding. I am not sure if there is fix for that besides raising it up. If your that low you probably want to look into rack spacers to help with bump steer though. I have only heard of one cobalt that killed its axles from lowering too much.

Damn car is slammed and clean as hell. Nice job going with coilovers. I heard that rotated transmission mounts can help a bit but its never been confirmed. Since you are auto though I dont think the F23 ones would fit anyway.

Ya for some reason its around 15-25 mph they vibrate when at an odd angle. It is the axles binding. Idk how to fix it beside raising it up.

Pic I found on VWVortex. Im not sure if the same concept will work on our cars but it could. Although I have never taken apart one of our axles to know for sure.

There are companies that make OEM replacements but as far as better than OEM, nope. For the money the SS/TC struts and shocks are hard to beat. It would be nice to get shock dyno's of both of them on the same dyno.

No one can really say for sure which is better. However GM spent millions designing the SS/TC suspension and it shows by having one of the best fwd lap times at the ring. FE5 is proven where as Koni has not really proven itself to the Cobalt community. I dont think Koni's product is bad its just the FE5 stuff is that much better developed toward this car.

I dont think rack spacers will really help the axle binding but it will help other problems and maybe take some stress off of them.

And ya SS/TC shocks and struts are much better than the SS/SC.

I'm loving the Konis on my car. I've had them on for a few weeks now. Off to VIR to test them on track in a few days.

The stock struts and shocks hardly have any rebound damping. I sent a pair off to have them dynoed. I expect that the Konis will dyno better.

There shouldn't be a problem with axles at all on the SS/TC-Pedders combo. You car is not going to be low enough to cause axle bind.

You should go out and measure from the ground to the middle of the fender for the front. Everyone that has slammed cobalts have this problem but theres not enough to do something about it. After spending some time reading up about it, you can do what the guy did in the pictures or find someone to make custom axles that are shorter. I wonder which side binds first too, because there is that long ass axle on the F23 cars.
