Weight Transfer......

Well I know everybody is looking for a way to help stop weight transfer. I was thinking the air bags you put in the springs for towing would help dramatically. You can change the pressure in less then a minute too. You could jack the pressure to 40psi on race day and keep it at twenty durrign the week. I am goign to give it a shot in the spring.
Anybody tried it?

those bags are good for that, but keep in mind if you go really extreme that NHRA rules require at least one inch of give on launch. so you cannot have solid bars in place of your springs. the bags should give enough to meet this requirement tho.

I think your best bet, and probably cheapest, find a plac eonline that will make custom springs and have them make up a set of....oh i dont know... 800 lb springs for the rear of the cobalt. They takea about 15-20 minutes to change and will be a ton cheaper than air bags.

You can buy airbags that just have a shrader valve on the bottom. They cost about 100 for a pair. and you can adjust them.....they are mostly used for vehicles with large load weights but might work for us.

Does that mean you are making fun of me or really want to see? lol. I have seen the bags lift the rear end of a 1999 bonneville about 5 inches? They can support the car on their own. i put them on ym dads car for towing. I think they might do alright...

Why don't you try air shocks? They adjust really easy and they have to be a lot less expensive then bags.

Want to know....

In theory, what you want to do is sound.

Keeping the car from squatting so that you don't "unload" the front wheels is what you're looking for.

Real world, will it really work on a basically stock FWD vehicle and reduce wheelspin?
