XXX bar on the street in an emergency situation?

Just a random question, but isn't the reason they sometimes cross over and use the dirt drop so that the strips will hold the tires, actually guiding them through the turn?

Shouldnt be triggering ESC on the street? Pshh, its so easy why wouldnt you? In fact i routinely see ESC Activated around a few tight corners when im screwing off and forget to turn ESC off... damn thing takes all the fun away.

Actually, I did just watch it with my little brother yesterday.

I remember seeing it done years ago on tv, the Rolex sports cup series iirc and thought that was the madness behind the method, so to speak..
