Brian Miller are you out there
Brian Miller are you out there
Hello from Las Vegas. I just bought a 2006 Cobalt SS. It's not running. I feel the ECM is the culprit. Upon removing it I see the ZZP tune sticker on the back. I contacted them and they are unable to duplicate the tune because of its age they tell me. So in order to order the correct ECM I need to know what all the car has had done to it. I see the super small charger pulley, liquid inner cooler, mount, and assume 60#/hr injectors (sticker on ECM shows 60#). But it also shows that it was owned by Brian Miller, so if anyone knows him, I would love to communicate w him. Or if there are other places to search for info on vehicle, please LMK
Thanks for lookimg.
Also if I am in the wrong section, I am sorry. Just figured as it was a tuning issue..

Why isn't it running? Cranks but doesn't fire? Doesn't even crank? What makes you think the PCM is the problem?
You can buy any 05-06 PCM and just have it reflashed. All ZZP should really need is the injectors being used and the pulley that's on the car. An intake and exhaust factor in, but not as much as the first two. Mounts, coolers, etc don't really affect the tune.
I actually have a bench setup to flash PCM's, but don't generally do that for other people. If you wanted, you could send the old PCM to me and I could see if I could pull the tune off of it. If I can, I have a spare PCM that I could flash it onto - that would cost money for the credits used though.

The PCM has power and ground at the connector, but no data from it. Scanner does not see it. No crank. It is all I think to try next. I feel replacing it will allow me further troubleshoot the no start issue (if doesn't cure it)
I have two spare PCM's, but for you to use, they'd need to be flashed to your VIN. ZZP is very likely going to be your cheapest option. I can sell you a PCM for cheap and send it to them as your Core - they'd just need to know that they have to change the VIN number on it (that shouldn't cost anything extra).
Looks like there are a number of cheap ones already listed on eBay, too - again, good to use as a core for a ZZP tune.

$50. And yes, I take PayPal.

Let me verify that I do indeed have TWO spares before you send payment.

Yes, I have a spare P12 ECU that I can sell you. It's out of an 06 Malibu - that shouldn't be an issue (exact same ECU), but I'd recommend emailing ZZP to confirm that it'll be okay before spending the money.
Must be from an 06 Redline? Not necessarily true. Any 05-06 Redline/SS would definitely work (I have an 06 SS PCM in my car now) and you can also run an 07 SS, but the fuel gauge will read backwards.
You might try reaching out to Alan.M@zzperformance.com, just to be sure. He's their tune guy and specializes in LSJ's. If all else fails, I might just put my OE PCM back in the car and sell you the 2006 one that I have.
EDIT: Part number is the exact same though:

I bet a dealer would be able to give it a complete rewrite to make it work ($$$) - but ZZP should be able to do that, as well.
