So I've been trying to figure this out and I need some help with troubleshooting this issue. My car seems to randomly command 13.6 then 15.5 afr. Here's a screenshot of this condition below:



My question is what can I log that will tell me what's changing my commanded afr? And my other question is -- is this normal? Shouldn't I even bother troubleshooting? Everyone thing else seems to be in order from the little knowledge that I have obtained so far.

what wideband do yo use? it has something to do with voltage and offsets. is your wideband gauge reading the same as hp tuners at all times? like if the gauge says 14.8 does hp tuners say 14.8?

 

It's an LC-1 wideband. I use my interceptor for a guage so it's either my interceptor or hpt cable plugged into my obdII port. So couldn't say..

Also.. I'm asking about commanded AFR, not actual.

 

is that your WOT afr or idle afr. at idle, the computer/engine is not going to hold a steady afr. it's going to fluxuate. now if that is your AFR at WOT, im shocked you haven't blown the motor up with spark knock

 

does this only happen when your going 1mph or does it also do this at higher speeds?

I'll have to check when I get home but try looking at the other tables in your fuel tab. Not sure what the name of the table is right now but has something to do idle or drive conditions....

 

It's not WOT lol.. look at my rpm. This is at idle. It seems to occur after I have come to a stop from driving -- for example, stopping at a stop light.

it is nothing that will show up in a log.

ps. i have pm'd you like 3 times about trying to help me tune and with questions and you never get back or even respond. i find it really funny that i know your clearly good at tuning but when someone asks for help you will not help me. i don't know why? i guess it doesn't really matter at this point since 04redline is spending countless of hours helping me tune the car but i always wondered why someone who knows information would hold back.

when ever someone has a question and i know the answer or think i can help or guide them with suggestions i always help others. pretty dick of you not to help someone with the same type car on a forum where were all supposed to be friends and share and help each other with info.

if you ever have a change in heart and feel like helping me once i am all done i'd like to hear your advice on what to change to make my tune that much better since maybe you know a secret or few things on how to make the car run better.

you wanted to attack me about my car in comparison to your car. you really think i am going to help someone who has this underlining issue of self esteem problems that they have to bring up their car every single time when they know someone else's car is faster and knit pick a shitty video in hopes that your car "might" be faster? you got banned once for being a douche bag.

you guessed on the problem. you guessed wrong. i know the EXACT problem. i deal with it daily on my car. i have tried to get hpt off their asses to give us two tables to cure this problem. so far nothing.

i asked for your help long before i even took that video.....

oh and i am pretty cheap as you know my car has barely any money in it and yeah i am pretty proud that if you say u were de-tuned to 306whp and i dyno'd 309whp/321torque at 10.4 afr with low timing on a really low mustang dyno. knowing my car had such a messed up tune and still put down some nice power on tune time performances heart break mustang dyno makes me feel happy.

everywhere you read people nutswing from you and stu and paul. it makes me happy knowing i didn't spend much money in my car and if it can beat or keep up with some of the greatest or well know guys makes me realize i achieved a goal for myself. i wanted over 300whp on a mustang dyno and accomplished it and also want to run a 12.99 or better which will hopefully accomplish before the end of the year. yeah you guys have done some great stuff for this forum then after doing some great stuff. why not keep doing great stuff? also i pm'd you on redline forum and on here about helping me with tuning before i even posted or took that video...


also to me it's not attacting saying wow i am faster from a certain roll to 110mph than area47 it's the fact of how much time spent in your car and the stupid cheap **** i did to my car and if it can keep up that makes me proud. i will never know if my car is faster than yours and it really doesn't matter if u dyno higher or i dyno higher because as we all know every dyno is different and also we have totally two different setups. if your faster or i am faster doesn't matter at all.

i will ask you once again for your help once i am all finished and if you would think twice over the fact that i really don't hate you and not trying to bash you maybe you will help me. it's not going to make or break me as you can tell my car is semi quick and moves pretty well.

 

because we have been burned by a lot of people. why help the masses just to get burned? there is no point.

 

i personally think if you don't go around saying negative stuff it will change rather rapidly. look in this thread you came at me like i am an ******* for trying to help the guy. at least that's how i felt and i am sure you feel i was trying to bash or make fun of you about saying my car is faster than your car. whatever. i am over that and i move on. from this point on if it hurts your feelings or even if it doesn't i am not going to mention your car ever again (honesly i mean that). be positive and then you will only notice the positives.

I do have a cat - it's the magnaflow high-flow cat and I have both stock O2 sensors as well. If it's nothing to be concerned about then I won't worry. I was hoping that I could explain it though and potentially correct the problem.

next time it does it. bring up the dtc side of the scanner, and hit the red x. it will stop instantly and go back to normal.

 

The wideband has nothing to do with an AFR that is commanded by the ECM. I also have a similar issue but will only command lean at idle. I believe it has something to do with the o2 sensor readiness checks? but I'm not sure at all about that.

Is it doing this only after startup or does it still do it when the car is at normal operating temp?

Here is a standpoint though. Area said thats not it try again. This is like what a good professor does. It forces the OP and others to do more research and think and learn themselves what it may be. If you are told all the answers you do not learn anything. This is proven by most Americans themselves... His method will **** some of you lazy people off but he never said dont ask more questions. Just that one idea of the issue was wrong.
