ANNOUNCEMENT: 2.2 Tuning. Please read
Ok I've been working w/ the guys at SCT to help them out in developing a tune for the 2.2 (e16a) modders.
If you are in the Longwood, Florida area and/or ready, willing, and able to make the trip to their offices, please PM me
Brad @ SCT has given me his personal phone number to give to any and all 2.2L e16a owners that are interested in helping them out with their tuning completion. I will be very careful about handing this out, so please only PM me if you WILL contact them and follow through!
Thanks,
B

They want to make absolutely sure that the stuff they've developed thus far is 110% able to tune certain cars before they go around saying that it does. Unlike other companies like HPT, they don't view the "cracking" of ECMs by the models of the ECM (like HPT "cracks" the e37, then goes and says they have support for all 2.4L ecotecs). Rather, they crack one, then see if the way they did it applies to other makes/models/years
So, anybody with an 03+ 2.2L ion or cobalt is welcome to visit them.
He told me that he'd want to have and play w/ the car for a couple of days so they can do a thorough assement and glean as much data as possible off the car and ECM in order to use in their programming strategies if the one they have now doesn't do the trick.
The more makes/models/years he has for this platform, the more likely those makes/models/years are to get tuning. He did mention that they are coming along nicely in their efforts thus far.
Ideally the sample would include every GM Ecotec vehicle made with a 2.2L, one from each make/model/trim (eg: 2004 Ion 2, 2005 Cobalt LS) so that they can sample at least one ecm from each make, model, and trim. However, I'm hoping that if/when they see that their one method works on nearly all the cars, they'll be able to confidently say they're able to tune the e16a and we'll all be in heaven.
It does not sound at this time like they'll be tuning your vehicle, but rather using it as a "sandbox" to see if they can do what they'll want to be doing with it when they announce support for it. (so don't ask for a "free tune" if you participate)
Again, if you are ready, willing, and able to head to their shop in Longwood, FL, PM me

if you buy the alpine kit, from tnt theres a program to tune the piggyback ecu. which would be just like tuning yours.
Yeahhh I don't feel very safe with that method. I'd rather wait for tuning. I know The guy who has it on here, Sway, blew his manifold up with the piggyback kit. I'd feel safer with the actual tune then trying to go the cheaper way. Rather be safe then sorry.
the piggy can be set up to NOT use the 5th inj and tune the existing injectors... then no risk to manifold. only downside there is that tuning would only be in effect at >85% throttle
in said configuration, it's working just like an SAFC

PM Sent...I live in Leesburg, 45 min away, IF THAT! just not sure If I can let them HAVE my car for two days, I need the thing...maybe for a few hours over a two week period, on thursdays and fridays...
ehhh yeahhh i know im still just weary of the whole thing. Feel safer with something that can be adjusted easier and with the SCT tune I beleive you can carry 3 tunes with you at one time....
AEM won't answer questions about the new unit. I was really hyped up about it when they started advertising for it but it may not be all its cracked up to be, hence the low price point. Nobody knows if it will support GM style MAF sensors yet or if it will even allow the o2 sensor to be clamped (very necessary on an ecotec). AEM won't return phone calls or answer anything on their own forum.
