Different kind of tuning question...kinda.

OK so I posted this in tuning cause it can be used on any car but... please don't flame cause i've searched and can't find SHYT! Thanks...

Anyway, the SMT6 is the piggyback system used to turbo the 2.2 in the Garret setup. I checked their site and it says it can be used on any engine. Now can the SMT6 be tuned like HPTuners? It says its a windows based utility and with a little fudging around should work pretty decent without doing a whole standalone system. Only reason I ask is because I want to turbo a 2.2 and can do so the way I want to without spending 3500 for a pre-fab kit that will not fit my HHR. I can get my hands on a turbo and mani that bolts on.. piping is easy and will be using a water-air intercooler mounted on top of the engine since the HHR's have enough room between the engine and hood to hide a small continent. The SMT6 is $408 and includes the software, cables, unit, and instructions for installation. Does this sound like a reasonable alternative to WAITING for HPTuners. I have looked at the SCT possiblity but that doesn't seem to be able to do what I want it to without having to sit and pay a shop a ton of money to tune it for me. Please, any feedback would be much appreciated since the HHR forum has ONE guy that THINKS he knows what he's talking about but is FOS.

Thanks for the ones NOT flaming in advance!

i think the main problem you'll find with piggybacks is that they cannot delete codes, remove rev/speed limiters, etc. There are some limitations with them unfortunately.

I kinda figured with the rev/speed limiters. That part I'm not too worried about. As soon as my trip speeds are in excess of 108 then I'll worry about the speed part. And the rev limit is just fine at 6500. Besides, if a turbo would work with a piggyback then what need is there to rev all the way out to 7000? Thanks for the input though! Good thinking!

The thing I am most worried about is the stock ECM going into limp mode if it "sees" boost and making sure I am dumping enough fuel. Also with this setup I would run stock SS/SC injectors.
