Frequently asked HPTuner questions

DISCLAIMER - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHANGES YOU MAKE TO YOUR CAR

Ok, let me go one thing at a time..

The rev-limiter
Engine>Fuel Control>Fuel Cut-off>RPM Limits
change the Fuel Cutoff RPM P/N vs. ECT to your desired rpm
change the Fuel Cutoff RPM vs Gear to your desired rpm
change the Fuel Cutoff RPM 1st Gear vs. Time to your desired rpm

Eliminating the rear O2 sensor
Engine Diagnostics>DTC's
for the following codes, uncheck the SES option and set the ERROR MODE to 3-No Error Reported

P0036
P0054
P0136-P0141
P0420

I believe thats it, all the ones you want to turn off are labeled HO2S..........sensor 2

For those without a cat, also turn off COT (set the values to 0)
Engine>Fuel Control>COT Lean Cruise>COT Adder Max
Engine>Fuel Control>COT Lean Cruise>COT Adder Min

Now, I use another couple tricks.

Limited boost in first
Engine>Torque Management>Supercharger>Max Boost 1st Gear

Labels 4000/4250/ 4500/4750/5000/5250/5500/5750/6000/6250/6500-8000 (at 100%)
Max Boost 40/45/55/60/65/75/80/85/90/95/100

Torque Management
Engine>Torque Management>General>Spark Retard vs Torque Reduction
set all values to ZERO
Transmission>Torque Management>Abuse Mode>Trans Abuse Mode Torque Reduction vs. RPM
set all values to ZERO
Transmission>Torque Management>Torque Reduction>Torque Reduction vs Torque vs Shift-Normal
set all values to ZERO
Transmission>Torque Management>Torque Reduction>Torque Reduction vs Torque vs Shift-Performance
set all values to ZERO

DISCLAIMER - I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CHANGES YOU MAKE TO YOUR CAR
these are simply ways to accomplish a goal.

also, for people with 2007's the torque management does not apply. the option for this is blank under the transmission section of hpt.

thanks doc!

How hard is it to tune for 60lb injectors via HPT? I want to buy it and learn it but i'm kinda scared and intimidated.

It isn't easy to accomplish on your own. There are companies/people that have pioneered this and most of the tuners use these as a baseline.

Like Doc said, the basics have been done by many already. Your best bet is to check with either Cameron or Steve if/when you get HPT. I think they both may have basic 60lb tunes for you to futz with.

For those people who are worried about their MPG i suggest reducing boost in 1st gear. I have mine set similar to Docs and i easily gained 2 MPG without planning on it. Changed it back too 100% across the board just to make sure it wasn't the weather and my MPG instantly starting dropping off.

What does zeroing out all the torque management stuff actually do for you? Quicker throttle responce?

think of torque mangament as a form of light traction control.

I think eventually you'll see something but it won't be for a long while. Good luck in finding something better

How much torque does the stock ecu manage? Ok.. Say you eliminate TM on a stock car. How much torque would you pickup?

I would like to know this as well. Is it harder on the tranny to zero out all the torque management stuff? What other little changes can be done to the gm stage 2 tune to get a little more power out of it?

Thanks. I haven't run into that code yet, although I haven't had a lot pop up.
