GMPP Stage II Question

I am getting ready to purchase my stage II thru my dealership and I was wondering if the PCM reflash will change the stock rev limiter setting. I know that the stage III comes with the adjustable rev limiter, but I haven't heard of any other way to surpass 6500rpms.

The GM stage flash (which comes with stg 1 and 2) increases the revlimiter from 6500 to 7000

No problem. Welcome to the site! If you have any other questions, try searching the "how-to" or "2.0 performance" sections. There both really informative.

If your considering getting GM stage 2, then you are a smart man. Avoid cold air intakes though. There a waste of money.

why is the cold air intake a waste of money. i have the fujita and i can feel the difference so i figured that would help with the stage 2.also i hear the gm tune runs rich anyway. woudln't this help even it out a bit?

i've been debating an injen for awhile now.... i just cant decide if its worth it, i wouldnt say that it is a complete waste of money though, i mean injen has dyno sheets up on there website that show improvements? or are they photoshopped? if no gains, they still sound cool. anyway i think its more of a you can spend a little more money and get alot more gains a.k.a. stage 2.

Cold air intakes put onto Cobalt SS/SC are wastes of money because the SS/SC already technically comes with a cold air intake (meaning the intake tubing is routed away from engine heat). The aftermarket intakes are identical in diameter, the only difference is the stock one is plastic, and the aftermarket ones are alluminum.

Alluminum does not magically flow better than plastic, heck some people swear that plastic intake tubes actually decrease IAT because less heat soak!

The only gains you are going to get from an aftermarket intake are from the exposed hi flow filter, and the slightly smoother elbow the connects the intake tube to the blower. So your basically paying 230+ bucks for what 40$ at advance auto could do minus the shiny-ness.

Take it from me. I have had 4 difference intake combinations on my car, and none of them "felt" any different. just sounded different.

Most people buy a 3.5" cone filter a modify the air box. Sometimes you can pick up an AEM (which just replaces the air box) cheap in the for sale section!

Your right, you get a hi flow filter with each CAI and your engine bay looks shinier, so its not a total waist i guess.

Yes, i could not really tell the difference. The injen was maybe 5% louder than an airbox mod with aftermarket filter.
