Modification Help

Okay so i am thinking about going ZZp stage 3 for reliabilty and a little bit of power and fun, etc.

My car has 42lb injoectors, a 2.7 pulley, and a horrible tune. AFRs are everywhere, fuel cutout at almost any RPM under boost.

I am thinking the new CPU for ZZP will help remedy this, but i do not want to spend the money if this is not the appropriate solution.

Thank you

A new ECM won't help you itself. Sounds like the tune is the problem. You can very well use either your stock computer or the ZZP one, but if both have the same tune the car will still run badly. You can change everything in your tune that ZZP would change anyway with HP Tuners. That's what ZZP uses. Ideally, a lot of people here:

1: Buy HP Tuners
2: Have someone remote tune them, do logs, and let the remote tuner dial in the tune
3: Once the car runs good, sell HP Tuners.

This is what I got out of it.

But if the OP goes with the entire stage 3 kit they'll tune it as necessary. I don't see the point in buying a whole stage 3 kit when a retune is all you need. Maybe bigger injectors too though. That's it. You can make 300whp with that combo if you really want to.

hes gonna need a lot more cooling mods to achieve anywhere near 300whp lol or the bottle lol. but id stick with the setup you have now and just get re tuned thats it and maybe check your plugs and def get some cooling mods as well and probably 60lbs injectors your pushing those 42s pretty hard with a 2.7 or go to a 2.9 pulley and keep the injectors

I meant that with the ZZP CPU the tune on it would level everything out, sorry for not making that clear.

But I would like to keep it cheap so if all I should do is get a smaller pulley and tune I should do that. I already have a trifecta cable, but a tune is like 250 thru them, and then bigger injectors are 100$+ and i wanna do a dual pass and double heat exchanger. use the zzp stage 3 one and keep the Gm CXracing one as well. From looking around I see that drops temps alot which is important to keep these reliable, especially since Im at 150k miles...

I also figured if I just get the whole kit, resale would benefit a little because it would be a full kit, instead of a list of mods, but idk which is better honestly. I drive 75+ miles a day so i dont need a ton of power, just enough to enjoy the car and make her run smooth.

Thank you guys a ton for your input, it is certainly appreciated. keep it coming!!

You have 150k on a modded car, resale is out the window.

CXracing heat exchanger is a joke, remove it. It hurts your IAT2 in a BAD way because it blocks so much flow. I had one and have the logs to prove it.

Tuning isnt cheap. Period. Trifecta is blah, but if you have the cable then their tune is going to be cheaper than buying the HPT stuff and paying someone.

Well i dont think its totally horrible, engine only has 65k on it, but I understand where your coming from. It was cheap and supposedly economical too so i picked it up.

and thats not good news, any relatively cheap heat exchanger i could pick up that could be good for the douuble heat exchanger route?

and is ZZP out the window at this point?

Thank you

I would see 165 degree IAT2 from a dig to mid third gear with that CXracing deal. I swapped nothing except the heat exchanger for the OTTP gen 5 and the same run in the same outside temp netted me a 120 degree IAT2.

You could have ZZP do it. It will never be as nice or smooth as a tune built custom for you, but it will be better than Trifecta.

Jeff we also offer tuned computers and I can get you a deal on multiple parts. Also if you wanted to buy HPT from us I will remote tune you for free.

The last thing I will say since everything seems to be answered is that ZZP is not the end all; especially on the LSJ. OTTP does more LSJ stuff and will really take care of you. I have nothing but positive things to say about Josh and OTTP; especially because he has hooked me up when my car was down.

Check out his offerings for you because he can tune you as well.

PS. Are you in Hudson Ohio?

Haha.

I go down there sometimes. I haven't in a couple months, but I have friends in Hudson/Spring Hill.
My friend Jordan drives a white Genesis Coupe slammed on purple Volks. She organizes all sorts of meets and crap.

Kind of. I am like 2.5 hours away. I used to come down there a lot though. My friend Tiffany has a silver LSJ on polished wheels and she works all over the county. Low and loud. She is a member here too.

Stay a while, we will teach you tons.
I knew little to nothing about them when I first joined here. Now I have had a LSJ and an LNF and have taken apart way more of them more times than I can remember haha.
