Mustang/Lightning help

Alright so my friend is going to pick up this '97 mustang tomorrow that has a lightning motor put in it. and everything is in pretty good shape other than the tune.

current mod list:
2000 Ford Lightning crate 5.4ltr supercharged with eaton supercharger
ford motorsport 42lb injectors
cold air intake
lightning 90mm massair
msd ignition
03 cobra heat exchanger
aluminum canton overflow
abburn posi rear
ford motorsprots 3:73 gears
mosure 31 spline axles
drag studs, 17x9 and 17x10.5 anthracite rims with brandnew tires, 315-35/17 in rear and 274-40/17 up front
hurst short throw shifter
speedpro boost gauge
walburn 255 fuel pump
fuel pressure regulator
new alternator
battery relocated in trunk with external power shut off switch
sct programmable tune in glovebox
mach 460 sound
power everything, tinted windows. a/c and heat all work. clear taillights, clear corners, crystal clear headlights

The guy he's buying it from has the ECU tuned for everything on there right now. which is good. but he recently put in a 90mm?? MAF sensor, but didn't tune for it. he says it still drives fine but up around 6k rpms it starts to lean out and won't accelerate as quickly. he wants to know:
1. is it safe to race like that?
2. is it safe to drive on the street(not racing)
3. does he absolutely need a tune as soon as he is able to?

heres some pics of the car.

probably not safe to race if it leans out, usually when your lean you tend to knock. To be safe I'd have the sensor tuned before any racing is done.

Not a bad idea the builder had there. If the rest of the install isn't shoddy then that car could really be ***** to the wall.

You need to get a retune for it asap. If the car is not tuned for the 90mm MAF then the tune is off from idle.

As for everyone making fun of the hood, if you've ever seen a Lightning motor its huge. Its pretty hard to find a colw hood that big.

The car should run pretty good with that motor, I think that should be a 12sec car easily.

i assume if hes got closed loop enabled he can drive in closed loop (part throttle to idle) otherwise the bigger maf could drastically underestimate the airflow and depending on how close the original tune was to the knock threshold he might either be fucked or fine everytime he goes WOT
