I have GM Stage 2 with nate's 2.9 pulley, I did put one range colder spark plugs. Running about 20K miles now with no issues. I have an H/E I haven't installed yet, one question is do I have enough with the 1 range colder plugs for a cooling mod to be out of trouble? I am also in Denver so the elevation equals less air so I think I am okay...I.E not running too lean. Any thoughts?

Well, I could be mistaken but I believe most GM Stage 2 tunes on a 2.9 will yield close to the same IDC's. I'm sure elevation will cause some change, not sure of how much.

I have the 2 step colder plugs + heat exchanger. For every day driving(as long as you aren't whomping up on your car) you should be fine with just the heat exchanger. However, if you are a track person, more cooling mods will be good to think about. Guys I was running with this past weekend saw IAT2 temps in the 170's with dual pass cooling. Others with dual pass plus a heat exchanger were mid 140's. Which is still high.

No. A/C goes bye bye with GM Stage 3. Plus, GM Stage 3 is a waste IMO. A guy that went to the track with us Sunday has GM Stage 3 with a 50 shot and he ran a 13.5. I ran a 13.7 with GM Stage 2 on a 2.9. No spray. I would stay away from GM Stage 3. Talk with the guys over at OTT. they offer a great stage kit that makes decent power at a really good price.

That is good to know, I don't want to run too lean or too hot. I have contemplated running the Cobalt Addicton 2.8 but I keep hearing how it will run too lean and create too much heat without at least a Dual Pass and HE

Well the M62 does nothing but create a lot of heat. Cooling mods should not be overlooked by any means. They are going to be better for your car, whether you run the GM Stage 2 Pulley or get all crazy and run a 2.5.

Dont feel bad man. I only hit 16 with my 2.9 when I had cat back only. Now with header, dp, and my cutout open i hit 15 usually. Maybe 16 on a good day.

It just seems to raise the TQ all acroos the RPM range is what I noticed and I did feel a bigger kick in the pants on the top end too. If you don't have it add a CAI and catback you won't be dissapointed in the car.

I feel ya....at the end of the day it is all about how fast the car runs anyway. shoot how many dyno queen cars are out there that can get smoked on a road coarse or drag strip because they make better use of power or have a better power curve.

No. It a little easier to work with the blower off the car, but not necessary. Make sure you break the bolts loose BEFORE you take the belt off or it will be a bitch getting them loose unless you have someone to help you.

Also, the bolts should only be torqued to 15 pounds I believe. Don't over tighten them or you will have a bitch of a time ever getting them back off. Also don't use any thread sealer on the pulley bolts or you will have a bitch of a time getting them back out again.

i had to take my blower off and use a 3/8 impact on super low setting to get the stage 2 bolts off.. it made it so easy with that.. and then i just blipped the new stainless cap screws on and tightened with my hand holding the pulley and an allen key... i was nervous taking the charger off, but now i feel like i could do it in 5 minutes since i realized how easy it is

Yeah, if you had the stage 2 installed then the tech MAY have torqued the screws down as hard as he could. If so, you will have to take the SC off to get the bolts loose.

that and the tech shoudl've used locktite for the stage 2 pulley. I had the same Chevy dealer install my 2.9 because I couldn't get the GM pulley off, they said 'we used a lot of locktite and had to drill the bolts out' LoL

I said to them no wonder I couldn't get it off without feeling like I was going to break something.

How was the HE install? How long did it take and do you have the Option B surge tank from GM to purge it properly?

The Heat exchanger was not that hard to install it is a direct bolt on. The only hard part was getting the bottom hoses off just because they did not want to come off there was like something sticky on the inside of them. Thats GM for ya. I will look into the Option B. I do have fluid drip out of the overflow but I dont know if thats normal??

Yeah, GM put glue on the hoses for the IC system. Quite a pain in the ass. When I did my dual pass with option B the hardest part of the install was getting the hoses off.

What did you guys do when putting it back on? Did you use some glue as well to keep from leaking?
