Upstate NY Tuners?

Looking for anyone in the Syracuse/Utica/Albany area very familiar with tuning. Having some issues with getting an error while trying to "write entire" on my spare ecu. My cousin and I have hptuners but have been scratching our heads over this for weeks and have found no answers or advice that has worked.

I could explain more details later.

best one I know of is BYT, he tuned mine. Although he is in PA he will travel for I think 35 cents a mile...

Do you guys have the latest 2.23 beta released about a month ago? Is it an '09 spare ECU with an '09 VIN in it?

^This. Try to read the VCM first and see if it lets you save it at the end without an error report!

Iambroke, it's an 08 ecu. I don't know if that's the issue or not though. You and I actually emailed a few times about this issues. And yes we have the latest beta. We read my stock GMS1 with no errors and saved it. The issue is writing entire on the ecu I bought on here. I really hope the 08-09 difference isn't the issue I'd be so pissed

Edit: I believe we get error 31 when attempting to write entire

I believe quite a few members have run the 09 GMS1 file on a 08 car without issue. I think the 08 file is out there now tho and people have loaded the right one.

I thought it sounded familiar...so...Like I explained before in my emails, HPT knows it's an '08 ECU VIN when you try to load an '09 tune onto it, VIN/OS mismatch. I went through this already with my TF/HPT combo tune. My VIN & OS are '09 now in my '08 SS because that was the GMS1 file Vince had for the sensors.

Try to change the VIN to the '09 first. It takes 3 tries to make the VIN stick, it's in the help files in HPT for the process of changing the VIN.

PM me and I'll resend you the '08 GMS1 file so you can flash the spare if you want. It doesn't matter if the VIN doesn't match the BCU, worst case you will need to do the security relearn.

EDIT: Many have gone '08 car to '09 file, I never went the other way. BYT prob has a model year license for both years and may be up for the challenge.

I only have an '08 MY license and now my '09 VIN. Actually, I didn't need any more HPT credits, I think it's linked to the ECU electronic serial number.

You guys will have to bear with me, i'm not sure what all your abreviations stand for: BCU, MY, OS...I'm just starting to get into tuning so I'm sorry for being slow. One of the issues is my cousin has the HPT and he lives an hour away so when we attempt to tune/troubleshoot it isn't very often.

Right now I have HP credits for my stock ECU ('09) with the GMS1 on it, with the tune saved. I also have the credits bought for my second ECU ('08). I'll try to rewrite the VIN on it next time we have time.

And Iambroke what were you explaining about BYT and being up for the challenge? That sentence was spanish to me. Sorry for being out there, I'm trying to learn this stuff and then explain it to my cousin. He's the one with the tuning experience and knows what he's doing. Me on the other hand not so much...but I would like to be educated on it so I'm not completely out there haha.

So the next time him and I attempt to get this to work: again attempt to rewrite the VIN on my spare ECU with my stock VIN. That will correct the issue with the Error 31? Or is that where uploading the 08 GMS1 into the spare ECU comes into play and corrects the error? Then allowing us to tune?

Thanks again for your time guys. (sorry about my 47 questions)

Edit: Iambroke I still have the files you emailed me so I don't need them again. I sent them to my cousin. We just haven't had time to get together to do this.

Body Control Unit - The ECU talks to the BCU for the security lock, ect.

There is a security relearn that I think I sent you if this happens.

I would install the spare ECU and write the '08 file to it ans see if it will run or not. I never tried to go back to an '08 from an '09, just the other way.

MY is Model Year license in HPT.

OS is the operating system in the ECU, it's different for each model year to some extent.

BYT is a good tuner and can prob meet you half way and solve all your issues.

It's a lot harder over the internetz than in real life.

I'll try and do this as soon as I can. I'll keep you updated either here or email. Hopefully we will have time before the snow begins to fall and the balt goes in the garage for the winter

Let us know how/if it goes. If you can't get the ECU to work in your '09, I may be interested in it.
