used value of hp tuners

i didnt know where else to put this, but i figured this would be as good a place as any.

i recently purchased hp tuners pro from a friend of mine. when i bought it he assured me it had 8 credits unused, but because he didnt have his laptop he used to tune with he had no way to show me aside from the hp tuners website. not being familiar with any of it i saw the acount had 8 credits, little did i know that was 8 credits licenced to the hardware, not 8 free credits. long story short, i payed him $500 canadian, i thought that was a good deal for $400 in credits and the hardware (again, its the pro with the extra inputs, not that standard). long story short i get the unit working with my laptop and find out it has 3 licenced vehicles, meaning 8 total credits, 6 used and 2 available. basicly i know thats a rip off (basicly $100 in credits and $400 for used hardware).

ive known him for a while and have yet to get a hold of him about it, im sure he will work with me about it, however we are going ot have to come up with the real value for this. what would the experts say hp tuners pro is worth used with only 2 credits remaining? i figure $100 for the credits and $100-150 for the hardware. sound right?

If he has 3 credits left he can still unlock his own car which is what he needs. For what you paid its not a bad deal. You need 2 crediuts to unlock a single vehicle and 6 to unlock a entire year. I unlocked all 06 cobalts and helped a friend with the other two credits.

it has 2 credits left, i can still unlock my car, and buy more credits. the guy i bought it from is a j-body guy, i dont plan to tune any j-bodies.

i talked to him and he agreed to give me half my money back. im happy. i was trying to find hpt with only a couple credits for a cheaper price anyways, i doubt ill tune anything other than my car, unless i do some transmission tuning through the shop i work for.

BRAND NEW vcm SCANNER ONLY package is $499 and has no credits or editing capability.

Take it FWIW but $400 for editor/scanner and 2 credits still isn't a bad deal really.
