I know that a 2.8 + custom tune SC made less than my bone stock tc on the dynojet where I dynoed mine. 10 whp less and around 45 less wtq. The mid range torque is significantly lower. Same dyno, only a couple weeks apart and similar conditions.

A stock EvoX-MR would take a stock SS/TC, even from a roll for about 1/2-1 car length... not much, but still a loss.
my buddy has an EvoX-MR and we raced a few times when I was stock, I lost by the above. Now with the tune it's different (saw a +50whp, +100wtq) and I take him by a few car lengths from a roll...

Diggs are bad for me vs him... very very very bad lol

My next car will NOT be FWD that's for sure
Would be nice if GM made an AWD platform for the LNF... that's not a Buick lol.

Evo IX's are the fastest model year. An average driver can net low 13's with a trap ranging from 103-105. Now, lets take into consideration the AWD and basically perfect traction they get in the entire run. If they were lets say FWD and got less traction off the line you could expect a worse time ( around mid to high 13's ) but a higher trap ( probly 2-3 mph higher ).

Also, if Im not mistaken, excellent drivers have netted as good as high 12's stock.

^ Cool fact. How does that relate to my post you quoted?

Anyways, I'm not looking at buying another Mitsubishi, my old Eclipse was enough to turn me off when it gets to high mileage- lots of maintenance. Not sure how it compares to Evo's (reliability) but the name has turned me off. Nice cars though, still miss my Clipse.

Just agreeing with u

Mitsu is teh ****. My csrt had a mitsu motor, and that thing was bulletproof. The evo's are pretty reliable, but need to be built if u want higher hp and reliability. Its the same with pretty much any car really.

Ok.
Up here in 'Canadia', Evo's aren't worth the price for me. Like 54,000$ all in for a new EvoX-MR. A used EvoIX will run you about 30,000-35,000$.
I'm just gonna be patient with my little Cobalt and see what tickles my fancy next year- if there's nothing good, I'll wait another year.
If Subaru releases this 'Subarota STi' (toyota FT-86 in Subaru form) I'll probably pick it up... if it comes to North America of course

I have considered buying an evo 9 for my next car whenever that may be. I love evos but the 8's just arent quick enough for me from factory. Obviously they are faster than my car was stock, but after putting 4 cars on one from 35-115 on my old 2.8 meth setup and watching my friend put a car on him from the same speed with 2.9" pulley, tune, and header/dp I decided the 9 is more my style

I have a friend with a 2.3 stroked 9 MR and it hauls ass, even on the stock turbo spiking 30psi. He went 12.1 @124 when we went to the track and he was spinning until 2nd (yes awd burnout on the cold track lol)

theyre a bit pricey. Theyre totally worth it though in my opinion.

Id steer clear of subaru if you want to mod. Subarus are WICKED expensive to mod.

lol. Ive done some price searching and comparison between the evo and sti. On average the sti is 2-3x more expensive to mod.

Subaru's are easy as hell to work on. I did my motor swap ALONE in a weekend...

And they are not expensive either. Hell I tuned mine for $90...and you could control EVERYTHING

It seems that exhaust and a tune nets some really good gains for the evo 9, put the same mods on a subie and your still in the 13's with the occasional 12. Not knocking subaru at all because they make very good cars, but for being in the same class as an evo the sti takes far more coin to make fast.

Around here all the subaru owners are too obsessed with the unequal length manifold sound their cars make and whenever you say anything bad about their cars they return with "well at least my car doesnt sound like a 4 cylinder." Umm guess what? IT IS! I could put a noodle header on my car and make the same noise lol. They dont grasp the concept of that, instead they think the horizontally opposed pistons is what gives it that sound. Im not kidding either, people around here are so unbelievably dumb. Ill let them sound cool I guess, Ill just walk all their asses since none of them mod their cars. we have 3 evos in this town with over 500whp, and they are cool guys to talk to, and one cool sti owner that I know of.

/rant lol

you have an older one. Were talking about the sti's. I know people who have spent 25k on their sti's and still only run 11's....

They are all the same lol. The new age drivetrain literally bolted right in. And I have the 2.0 in my car even. DP/UP and tune = 13.0 @ 106 (yes lighter chassis tho)

Really depends on brand! BUT, I run a Invidia Divorced WG DP, was $250. Then a custom 3" w/HKS can, $300. Stock airbox plus snorkel removal and K&n = $50. Tune is $90 for the cable, FREE software!! So for a few hundred in a WRX you can get low 13's easy!! I have a friend with only a couple other mods in a Wagon running 13.1's @ 105.

Open source with tactrix cable is cheap. Thats a nice thing, its like $100 shipped.

My friend with an 02wrx with uppipe, downpipe, catback, intake, and tune on 18psi ran a best of 13.8@97...then blew up lol. But his car has 110,000 miles on it
