05 ss/sc vs eclipse gts

well i ran this guy tonight with 2006 eclipse gts. he was pretty koo and all. he said he has taken balts with more mods than me. i said ok koo. ihave never raced one of these before but know they can be fast.

he said lets do a 40 roll and i said ok. honked it off and we were at it. we were next to each other then he stated to pull. by about 110ish he had about 1 1/2 on me. i didnt expect to win anyways. i am pretty sure he had more than just exhaust. he claimed only exhaust.

so what do u think? i am running stg2, cai, borla muffler, and running about 14 psi (dont know the size) plus i had a 140 pound pasenger and i am a pretty big guy myself. the eclipse was by him self.

oh does anyone think the borla i have would be holding me back? its a XS muffler.

any input would be great

yeah I have nothing against the cars, but Ive heard they are overrated, if he was bone stock, you should have def. beat him with your mods. He had to have had a little something.

Stock for stock the GTS and SS/SC are about the same.

A little nod to the SS/SC with the weight advantage

When I was bone stock I raced a bone stock 4g gt and beat it really bad from a dig and pulled him by like 2-3 cars from a roll. You should have won, no excuses.

Now, I'm still somewhat stock and I destroy them. those cars are slow as hell and they don't take too well to mods. Mitsu really messed up the eclipse when they ventured away from the 4g63 and started putting v6's in them.

Nah the new V6 is the most powerful motor ever put into the Eclipse.

Making them so damn heavy is where they fucked up.

And by 4g are you talking 3.8MIVEC?

If so I think you out drove him from a roll, if possible.

TRUE, they are very heavy. But I've never been a fan of a n/a I4 or v6 as a great platform. I guess if it was a tad lighter and RWD it would be a lot better.

Yea, I'm talking about the 3.8 MIVEC.

Maybe his car is just slow or something.

Damn Bro. Not trying to be rude but you just lost to a GT-S"Eclipse.. Was it a convertable too? I wouldnt post that ****. Thats sucks bro Maybe with aftermarket tubos and Bosst 20+ but other than. I dont think he would do that to a brand new car. Maybe work on driving, these cars are the toughest sports cars ive ever driven hands down...Peace

why be afraid or ashamed to post a lost?? we all win and lose. besides it has about what 263hp at the crank stock and plus he was not a convertible. i am pretty sure it was way more modded than what he said. i will post up to video for u to see it.

I have to call this one out.. My previous car was an '01 GT.. The only difference performance wise between the GT and the GTS is the bump from 9.0 to 10.0 c/r and the variable runner intake.. Which all adds up to a whopping 5 hp, on the dyno the GTS makes about ~175hp at BEST. Also, the 3g weighs in at a massive 3800 lbs dry..

long story short,

SS/SC>GTS

This was a 2006 GT MIVEC V6 which is rated at around 260 flywheel not a 2001. NOT the SAME at all...

14 PSI on S2 at 650 feet ASL is a bit strange, but not out of the question I suppose (although, at 5k feet S2 only hits 12.5, need to drop all the way to a 2.7 to hit 15 lbs up here). Sounds like OP got taken by the extra weight in his car, plus the Eclipse driver seems like he was lying a bit. Oh well, not a horrible car to lose to, they're bricks but decently quick stock.

Oh! ok.. Well that changes things! Yeah a buddy of mine has an 06 GT, they are sweet cars.. He outran a stage 2 srt that was running around here a while ago. The srt dosnt run like it should though..

Yeah if you can get the power to the ground in the new MIVECs they are very beasty cars.. But they still only are supposed to do the quarter in 14.7 or so stock.

268 crank translates to 230's-ish to the wheels, so in a roll race I can see it pulling decent, but that weight is still a bear to overcome. I'd just be glad I didn't pay almost $30k for a ~230 WHP FWD car.

I was referring to the extra passenger you said you were carrying. An extra 140 pounds isn't hugely bad (I'm only 140 myself and my car weighs 3050-ish with me in it), but it does slow you down a bit.
