08 cobalt ss/tc vs evo9
The modern engines are pretty much broken in from the factory. I'd be more concerned about the clutch getting a proper break-in, but if you're not excessively slipping it and have that many miles and they're from a lot of city driving it should also be fine.
What you're describing would be oil leaking up past the rings causing some to get burnt and you'd also have gasses from the compression stroke forced down past worn rings into the crank case causing blowby. If you've rebuilt engines before you'd know that if the rings don't seat you're going to notice it immediately, not years down the road. It's not something that slowly develops over time. That would be normal wear, which is going to take many countless thousand and well into hundreds of thousands of miles for the rings to wear to the point they cause those problems if you properly maintain the car. For engines that are improperly maintained and/or heavily modify and abused they may have premature wear or fail sooner, but the original owner shouldn't have to worry about anything.
And yes, on a move the new SS Turbo shouldn't have a problem with a stock or even lightly modified Evo 8, 9, or 10. But then again a lot of those cars have been around for a while now and it's hard to say what the other owner has done to their car (and there's some impressive Evo's out there). From a stop it will depend on how hard the Evo owner wants to abuse their car getting a good launch. If they're not launching super aggressive I've seen more than a few high powered front drivers hold their own.
