10 SS/TC vs 11+ 5.0 Mustang

After leaving the mustang/f-body meet at us36raceway last night I ran into a blue or black 11+ mustang 5.0 in my 2010 Cobalt SS/TC.

I toyed with him for a bit, but he didn't seem to want to waste his time on a cobalt. A few miles down the road he got into it and I took chase with him slowly creeping up on me. Second run was more official, did a 40ish roll with me brake boosting. I instantly pulled past with him staying at my rear bumper, I never seen his lights pass my drivers side door. Those were the only runs we did, but it put a smile on my face for the rest of the night. It sounded stock, other wise I don't think I would have stood much of a chance.

only mods are a GMS1 reflash and a 3" catless downpipe.

Way better tires and exhaust. That`s why we did the dig to make it more fair

I doubt it was a 5.0 likely a 2010 gt 4.6. Having owned both cars I can say a GMS1 cobalt will get yanked by a bone stock 5.0. Now an aggressive e-47 tuned stock turbo cobalt will beat a stock or mildly modded 5.0.

Gonna have to agree with Term on this one. There's pretty much no way a gms1 with a downpipe is gonna pull a 5.0.

My friend with a gms1 raced the 5.0 I did and he lost by a couple cars I think from a roll with HPT and a DP it would be close from a dig the 5.0 all day

No Way! I had raced 4.6 with my stock Cobalt SS/TC with just ZZP FMIC. I pulled away from him slowly but as for 5.0, HELL NO! That Mustang 5.0 pull as far as bus length.

Only way a gms1 cobalt beats an 11+ 5.0 in any acceleration test is at the top of pikes peak or some other really high mountain I can't think of where the coyote is down like a 100+ horsepower

My 5.0 fully bolted and tuned on 93 vs my SS/TC fully bolted and tuned on 93 from a roll they had nearly identical 60-100 times but the 5.0 trapped 5 mph higher and was 1 second faster.

I dont believe a GMS1 cobalt will stay even or ahead of a 11+ 5.0. This is a tall tale. Im not even sure my bolted and hptuned cobalt could pull ahead of a 5.0.

A bolted and tuned stock turbo TC on E-47 especially if it had cams and a 4.45 trans could pull a stock or milded modded 5.0 from a roll. From a dig forget it my 5.0 was running high 3 second 0-60 times and trapping 120-121 MPH and running 11.7-11.9.

Not everybody has 4.45 transmission, cams, and E-47. Everybody pretty much has GMS1 and that's pretty much it.

Yes I agree but there are many guys on here with more than just GMS1 many have more aggressive tunes and a lot are running E-47 or E-85. My SS/TC with full bolt ons a very aggressive 93 octane 26 psi tune had the same 60-100 times as my 5.0 with a very aggressive 93 octane tune and full boltons. Both cars tuned by me of course. The 5.0 was a lot faster off the line though like its 0-100 times were about 1 second faster than my SS/TCs 0-100 times.

ran a new 5.0 in the middle of september on my way home from the strip and we had 3 runs first run i didnt brake boost or NLS and he got me by half a car. 2nd race he missed 3rd and the 3rd race i brake boosted and NLS i got him by half a car and then got a thumbs up from too lol (he was running mid 12s all day too at the strip). Im fully bolted and tuned on 22psi and he had an exhaust thats it. Those 5.0s scoot pretty good lol

Nope no support back when I had mine. They support them now that I no longer have mine

SCT I hated the software it was not very user friendly and harder to understand than HP tuners and the logging software was not as good IMHO.

Yes LOL at least the tunes are on the same level although if the 5.0 had E-47 it would have really yanked the SS/TC up top. The biggest improvement on mine was the Boss302 intake mani. I gained over 60whp up top with it and only lost 15 wrtq peak at 4200 but the overall area under the torque curve was so much better and the overall power band was longer and the pull from 5000-7500 was insane.
