2.0 vs. '06 Eclipse GT

Was driving on the street when I passed a new v6 eclipse. Some guy probably in his early 30's driving. I tried to start a race by letting him hear my blower as a I slowly passed, but he didn't bite. We do this for a while then come to a red light. He didn't rev or even look at me. Light turns green. We both take off slowly, then I hear him gun it. I gunned it too, and by the time I got to 85mph I was a steady two lengths ahead . At the next light, he turned right and didn't even look at me.

most definitely not, for the price you pay on those theres no way imo it would even compete with a stock cobalt ss s/c

lol the new 4 banger eclipses that i've seen have been running 17's at Bristol Motor Dragway. And the 6 cyls are only pulling low 16's high 15's...not that impressive to me.

Are you sure about that, I thought they were rated better than that, my coworker has one and from the feel of and our race im sure he would be high 14 or low 15s,I drove this car and it is a little slower than my car by the fourth gear hes up on my bumper both times until we shut it down. that being said anthing more than a 1/8 its a drivers race

i'm pretty sure....they spin like crazy off the line and have no go...but the cobalt ss s/c at the track has been running low 15's high 14's...Bristol Motor Dragway is slower though becasue its at a higher elevation.

Yeah, you guys think you have trouble hooking, those cars spin the tires at 80 downshifting to 3rd. They are MOSTLY top end stock.

I might be confused the 05 eclipse gt is 200hp and the 06 is revamped at 260hp, my buddies is an 05,NJHK was saying in another thread his is 260, once again it worth more to me to have gains down low than at the top end where it doesnt count on the streets

I dunno but if they are 2.0 territory, bring it. Before I got stage 2 I raced 2 and won each one and it wasnt oh you just beat him style, it was a wicked spanking. I am sure there are going to be a few guys out there with some fast ones but in general the vast majority of those owners will never see low 15's or less. (speaking of course of those that wish to race the car)

I think you guys are confusing the '05 GT (200hp) with the '06 GT (263hp). I raced the higher hp one. It's a good race

the 05 and the 06 are the exact same looking car. You cant tell the differance between the two by looking at them...

I ran one (GT) from about a 60 punch on the highway, good race but he could not keep up. I let out of it at about 125 and he was a good 8-10 car lengths behind. I know he was still in it to because once I let out he flew by me fast. Not sure if its a 05 or 06 though, but judging by how bad I beat him it must of been an 05. My car is mostly stock to all I have right now is Injen CAI.

Also the Eclipse gt has a curb weight of 3693lbs, that is almost 800lbs more than the Cobalt ss. Even with 263hp this thing is really heavy. Read this review.
