Coming home on 376 and headed to the Turnpike I run up behind a GSR in Monroeville who is also headed my way on the TP. We jog down the exit ramp and I think..."Hmm, exhaust, springs, ricy lights...maybe he'll wanna play when he sees me?"

He's in front and trots out to 65 slowly as we merge on the deserted TP at 11:00PM. I downshift to 3rd and steam by him on the left under an overpass so I know he hears the intake. Then I gently change lanes into the right lane, worm the hook, cast, and watch the bobber...

Sure enough. The little fish strikes the bait. I know he's thinking..."This aint American Pie day boy...time to die"...I see the ricey blue headlights bob and here he comes. He flys by me in a full wail of intake and exhaust coupled with a nice VTEC growl and throws on the flashers while slowing to match my speed up ahead about 4 cars. Like a good fisherman, I brace myself and start reeling this little Crappie in.

I drop to 3rd and run up beside him and lift to match his speed. A heartbeat later, I hear him hit it and I am ready and waiting.. I floor mr. loud pedal.

I'm at 4000 rpm in 3rd, and the 2.4SS just simply overwhelms the little 1.8..... VTEC or not, this fish is starting to realize he shoulda left this hook alone.

Now normally most races for me are over by top of third, but he continues to try and get by me, so I stay in it HARD until I shift to 5th. The road is deserted and I can see forever. Nothing ahead but darkness. He's back about 3-4 cars when I hit the brakes, but he continues until he catches up to me.

He pulls even. I peer into the GSR. He looks confused.
Ding..Ding...round two.

He drops it again. Same story as before.
He is staring at me now when I slow and he catches back up.
He looks more confused and slightly mad.

Ding..Ding...round three.
Ho hum. He drops it again and so do I.
Same story as before X3.

Now he gives up stays back but gets behind me. I know he's reading the back of the car. Hmmm. What does he see but a debaged car that says simply...."cobalt"

I come home and enjoy a good little fish fry ameeerican stlye.. Wife wants to know why I am smugly smiling as I cook a late night snack.

 

lol funny story and great kill. i would love to run a GSR but there isint to many of them around here just a ton of LS with there huge mufflers and body rust. he must have felt like crap loseing to not only a american car but a 4 door lol you should have got a pic of his face

 

Funny you should mention that. I fumbled around to get my cell phone to get a shot of his car...but he never pulled back up even with me.

Awsome kill. I've had my car for over a year now and only one car has tried to run with me. And that was back in like the 2nd or 3rd month I had the car. Guess I need to make a trip down to the south side of town?.

 

haha i was about to ask if that was you in your avatar and rag on you. you need to get a loud exhaust. then you just get challenged by people way out of your class and a few ricers. i had a c6 challenge me the other day . i turned up my music and pretended i didnt hear him revving it LOL!

I have a friend who works for "Enterprise" i was gonna get one of their little green "E"s to put on the rear bumper for the FULL RENTAL CAR MONTE'..

 

LOL! Then you need steelies and hub caps and take some of thier money!

 

Oh believe me I get into enough fracases that if the LS steelies and hub caps fit my bolt pattern I'd send alot of people home crying thinking a rental just bamboozled them.

What's funny is this car 5-8 years ago would RULE the streets. I have dusted off anything that was fast back then (GSR, Celica GTS, Civic Si, Matrix, SE-R, Spec V, GTIs ....) and this car holds its own even now. Just gotta be careful who you try to break off.
