3 races over the weekend, almost a 4th..

First race was a modded fox body mustang.. Dunno exactly what all was done to it, but he had exhaust i know, and a 3 guage pillar goin up the side... Had 3 other ppl with me plus my stock exhaust still in the trunk, extra 500lbs or more with me.. Was him by himself... Started in 3rd at a 60 roll, dead even completely thru 3rd gear, went to 4th and he pulled maybe(MAYBE) a half a fender till we let off... Got stopped at a light but he was turning, he gave me the thumbs up and told me my car was fast.. i said the same and we went our seperate ways..

2nd race was against my friends 98 automatic t/a with a brand new lt1, cai, exhaust. Did a bunch of races with him from rolls and digs... depending on who got off the line better determined who won.. 1st race was froma 40 roll, was a car by 100mph... 2nd race was from a 60 roll, he had a half a car on me by 100.. he said that anything below 60 he cant win against me.. 3rd race froma a dig, he got the jump and stayed a car- car and a half in front of me, 2nd dig race i got the jump by about a car and a half and he gave up after 2nd gear cuz it was over.... More runs but dont feel like puttin em up here cuz back and forth the whole night...

3rd race was with a 2nd gen turbo eclipse awd... Race was over b4 it really got going... I did a dig race just to see how good he could launch it since he was automatic.. He jumped me by about 2 1/2 cars, maybe 3.. Got another car then let off at like 60, lol.... i know i know ill explain in a minute.. He also raced my friend in his trans am(gave my friend 5 cars from a dig). Guy in the eclipse waited for my friend to get the jump then took off... Instantly side by side with him the just put multiple cars on him.. Guy was running 12.1 in the eclipse(found that out later after we raced). He had no rear seats or passengers seat either.. turbo wasnt the only thing upgraded either, car was cammin or somethin, possible stroker kit? not sure if u can get those for a eclipse or not..

Went to pulaski rd. to watch some races, watched 2 sti's battle it out.. 1 was a fire breather, lol... He won, but only by a car- 1 1/2 cars.. Guy in a new civic si came over to me and asked me to race after they had just been broken up the first time by the cops.. My friend keith called dave(t/a) and asked if someone would go pick him up so i said i would.. told the guy in the civic that i would be back, not to worry that i would still race him, he said that was cool... Get back and my friend in the t/a told us that the cops had broke it up again, so i never got to race him... Theres always next weekend though

BS on trans am. If it was a brand new engine it would be built and kick your ass. Also, 98s had the LS1, not the LT1.

This is very believable.

As far as the 98 TA having a LT1..this is also possible if he put it in the TA himself. Stock they have LS1's, but he never said it was the factory motor, he said it had a "fresh LT1" which could very well mean his friend put it in.

Good races man

Why would he drop an lt1 instead of a ls1? He'd have too change the wiring harness and the computer.

i have no idea y he done it... I've only known him for about a month... My step brother is his friend, thats how i met him.. maybe my step brother heard wrong when he asked him to assure that it was a 98.. could just be a 97 with the 98 tail lights.. cuz it has the 98 tail lights the honey comb 1's.. My step brother is an idiot sometimes, but ill call and ask him just to be sure when i get off work today.. i think he put the lt1 in it cuz he had it in his garage.. he got rid of a 95 t/a b4 this 1..

He could have chosen the LT1 as they make for better drag cars...iron block instead of aluminum holds up better for boring and besides the LT1 makes more torque much quicker than the LS1...LS1's are great on the highway...but an LT1 is better at the track. The LT1 is also a little bigger motor 349 CI compared to the LS1 346.

There are lots of reasons why he went LT1...only one who knows for sure is the guy who put it in. Not uncommon for LS1 guys to sell their motors, buy an LT1 and use the money they made off the Ls1 to beef up their LT1's and beat the crap out of the LS1 guys at the track.

This is exactly why I have a hard time believing it. It makes no sense whatsoever.

I wasn't trying to be a dick. It just doesn't make any sense.

An LS1 is a better engine overall by far. The are faster than the LT1 at the track too. My wife had a '95 T/A with the LT1 and 3.42 gears. She now has a '99 T/A with the LS1 and 3.23 gears. Even with the gearing advantage the LT1 car is slower because of the LS1s top end power. The torque down low is about the same. And I'm not talking just barely slower either. Her first run in the '99 beat her best in the '95. 13.92 vs 14.2+

Yes, it is. But not for the price. The performance diff is small compared to the price diff.

the LT1 car is slower because of the LS1s top end power.
The TOP END POWER of the LS1 doesn't start until around 100mph. Which by then the quartermile is almost over (at least for moderately stock cars)

The torque down low is about the same.
Look on a dyno..this is simply not true.
an LS1 doesnt make its 280 ft/lbs until around 3700 RPMS, the LT1 makes 285 ft/lbs @ 2300 RPMS.
They are faster than the LT1 at the track too. My wife had a '95 T/A with the LT1 and 3.42 gears.
Which means it was a stick with 3:42's as this wasn't offered in Auto's in 95, which means your wife could possibly not drive the car to potential...although 14.2 is a good time in a 95...but I driven 96 Lt1 with a stick to 13.8's.

She now has a '99 T/A with the LS1 and 3.23 gears.
Which for the 99 years probably means the car is more than likely an auto (possibly a stick if it's not the WS6 package...)

Even with the gearing advantage And I'm not talking just barely slower either. Her first run in the '99 beat her best in the '95. 13.92 vs 14.2+

I am not saying they aren't a tinge faster stock...thats not what I am saying. All I am saying is they are a much better drag motor. You have guys that won't even buy the LS1's and look all around for the LT1's specifically for this reason. From all the motors I have built, the LT1 is better for the drag strip.

lol this same **** started problems on the mustang forums...take a look at his story here. an extra 500 lbs of people would slow him down ALOT, so we are talking a low 15 sec car at this point with an extra 500 lbs MAYBE high 14's at best. now he posted the kill of the fox on the mustang forums and people said it was probably close to stock if not stock (wouldn't make sense if it weren't for the extra weight, but now you are talking a car that runs mid 14's stock (the 5.0) vs a car that does about the same, but has an extra 500 lbs....he flipped his **** when people said it was probably stock or close to it and said you guys are just bitching because i almost beat one blah blah blah. i dont beleive much of this story. either there was a crazy series of events or this kid is full of it.

Don't blame the car if you can't drive.

There should be no excuse in a stage 2 losing to a stock LT1...NONE.

Before modifying...I never had ONE Lt1 that cut faster than a 14.1 stock.
