I am posting this to back myseslf up , on knocking v6 mustangs (caught a lot of crap) in a previous post. My step bro. came in hes got a s14 s15 conversion with a jap eng, 6 spd, and a big turbo. I have a stock 04 gto we ran 4 times from a 20 roll I won twice and he won twice. Just given props to a deserving car.

Im sure the 240 wasent too fast ive taken light modded gto's with a stock evo. Does he have the Ka or sr20 in it? and what size turbo?

 

if he did the front clip s15 conversion its prob the sr20 wicj is a waste cause for less you can keep the ka and make tons of power

 

You cant do an S15 front end with a Ka? I thought it was only cosmetic?

 

s15 is bumpers hood fenders lights stuff like that. but if he bought the whole clip some are motor and all so it would come with the sr20det and s15 tranny. i wonder if he has the posi unit out of the car as well? hmm need more into on setup

 

its an 04 so its the GTSlow, hes only got the 5.7

 

he has some motor that was only released in japan, not sure which one it is. I think he may have called it a black top or red top, but I im not sure if thats even what he was talking about. He dose have the possi rear and this car is ill I seen his a$$ end trying to pass him up in 4th gear on 13 lbs boost.

in 04 they put the 5.7 LS1 in it. In 05 and 06 they replaced it with the 6.0 LS2

low 13s some claim high 12s are poss not sure about the 6.0s, but i have beaten one with an auto tranny

 

and it was a waste of money to get an 04. For the price you pay for the year and the name you could get a decent to heavily modded LS1 Camaro or Trans Am for cheaper and be able to walk the GTO in a race. And still have money left over for the gas and refill on the NOS

 

for the price we paid for our cobalts we could have gotten alot of riced out four bangers that could blow us away. I buy what I want, not because I can have a cheaper car and make it faster.

 

Yeah but buying a cobalt is different from buying a GTO.

Chevy never had a supercharged/turbocharged 4 banger on the market before or at least for quite some time. It was unique and a good car all around with the potential to be more.

The 04 GTO is just a name and a body. The 04 came with the exact engine that was in the Camaro 2 years prior and the C5 Corvette came with the LS1 in 04. Even the 05/06 GTO came with the same engine that was in the C6 Vettes.

On average, as in the average times I've seen them run, and the average times people have posted them running. I've seen quite a few run 13.3-13.4 stock, and a couple have gone 13.2 stock.

 

Well in that case on Average an LS1 GTO will run 13.2-13.5 I've seen quite a few go quicker and a couple have broke 12s stock.

Ls2 GTO's on average run 12.8-13.0 I've seen faster and a couple have gone 12.6 stock.

 

I'd like to see an LS2 GTO keep up with a stock 03/04 Cobra, and that average 03/04 Cobra runs 12.7-12.8. I dont believe a stock LS2 GTO has ever gone 12.6 stock, 12.8, maybe, but not 12.6.

Just checked the GTO forums and find stock times for both LS1 GTO's and LS2 GTO's. The top 12 stock LS1 GTO's ranged from 13.025 to 13.39, and that is just the top 12 on the site, meaning there are tons more in the mid to high 13 second range. The top 12 stock LS2 GTO's ranged from 12.92 to 13.086, and that is just the top 12, with there being tons of others that went slower. I understand the LS1 GTO's and LS2 GTO's are no joke, and I was about to get an LS2 GTO, but I opted for my SS/TC instead. Basically because I already have a RWD v8 car that is modded.

 

Those lists lack any sort of detail at all. Check the Northeast section fastest times list and you'll see times faster than the national board lists.

And yeah LS2 GTO vs 03 Cobra is basically even. I'd explain in detail why, but you're probably another person who believes trap speeds end all.

 

i have never ran my car (ls1 gto) on the track,but on the street I pull stock gt's by 4+ cars. So if they are averaging mid 13s, it wouldnt be impossible that I was runnin low 13s.
