alero vs c class
so like any kid whose had his car for about hmmm well say 4 days ....i picked it up on a tues and it was fri night. Me and my friend snuck out at like 1 in the morning to take a ride and see what was up with the night life. I was rolling through the center of town and came to a stoplight. THese two kids from my school who were seniors . i was i junior. rolled up next to us in a c class mercedes. they gave us the look and we were off at the green light. i hit about 100 going down our main strip, which is a 30 mph zone. and slammed the brakes for the next red light. we absolutely toasted the benz off the line. the kids played like they didnt notice and we talked for a while after but they didnt want to go again...oh and i made sure to tell them i have a 2.4 ecotech....the 40+ $ car his dad bought wasnt worth crap in his mind they got kinda pissed and left....i was wicked pumped cause i had my car for four days.....but i dont run it like that anymore....i dont think it will take the abuse...or at least i dont want to give it....so thats my story

ECOTEC is a 2.2L in n-bodies from 2002-2004 (your car is an n-body)
Quad4 is a 2.4L, much older engine, in 99-01 Aleros.

Thinking you have a 2.4 ECO? Even more retarded.

And pointing out he doesn't know what engine he has isn't disagreeing. Its pointing out a fact. He is wrong.

Please be respectful towards others. If you can say that you never did anything stupid on the road in your life then you are just better then anyone on here. This section is here for fun. We do not encourage or support street racing. Maybe this section was a bad idea. It was meant to be for wins on the track. I hope I don’t have to close it.

The fact of the matter is...we all get on it once in a while. It's hard not to when you're an enthusiast of cars and speed. And while no type of street racing is legal or safe, there are still things to consider and have common sense about. For instance, I don't race in school zones, neighborhoods, industrial zones nor anything below 45-55. Out here in Orange County, the typical speed is between 45-55 on main strips..and most strips have 2-3 lanes on one side. So late at night, when there's hardly any traffic, it's certainly a lot safer..but still not legal nor safe when it comes down to it.
I don't think there should be a policy against posting street races...but know this board and its staff members do not condone such things. It's a personal choice, and a personal risk. But moreso, you have to remember that you're risking the lives of those around you. If a situation is filled with too many people, too many variables (no visibility, dark, pedestrians, etc.)...you might reconsider.
Another personal rule of mine is...I race up to no more than 80 on a street..and around 110 on the freeway. Two reasons...1. By that point, the winner will more than likely be obvious. and 2. While those are illegal speeds, it's nothing too excessive. Once I've reached these speeds, I shut down and resume the legal limit, win or lose. I don't do rematches, I don't continue to push things.
So, in conclusion..this isn't meant as a lecture to anyone in specific. This is my personal views and feelings on the subject. If you come to this board and start posting about how you drove 130 in a school zone, weaved in and out of traffic, and almost died three times...it won't be looked upon favorably. Keep the races tasteful, and if possible, keep it all on the track. [/soapbox]
