All-Motor Sunflower vs. JDM S13 Silvia
Hello,
Well as I've stated before I'm not much for racing on the street, but my buddy has been bugging me forever to race him in my "Sunflower" and last night I finally caved in and ran him.
The Cars:
05' Sunfire -- LE5/LSJ Hybrid (All-Motor)
JDM S13 Silvia K -- SR20, equal length turbo mani, stock turbo, intake, MBC, 14-15psi, aftermarket hot and cold charge pipes, aftermarket intercooler, 3" downpipe, 3" full exhaust (he might have some other stuff, but thats what I know for sure he has)
The Race:
We ran from 40-110mph, I had him by about 1.5-2 cars when I shut it down.
Made the majority of the lead in 2nd and the bottom half of 3rd, going into 4th, I wasn't pulling on him and he wasn't pulling on me.
The "Sunflower" claims another unsuspecting victim...lol
Anyways, just thought I would share.

Ya he was saying the stock turbo runs out of breath pretty fast.
He had been for a ride in my car and I had been for a ride in his car, so we knew that I would be a pretty close race.

newt, I have read a few of your threads and posts, and I must say I'm very impressed with what you have done with your car.
Props to you for showing the kiddies it doesnt take 300+whp to be fast.

Thanks!
I've been trying to get people to realize that for years...most people still don't listen....lol
I like making use out of every last horsepower and leaving nothing at the table. I hate seeing 300-350whp cars go to the track and run a mid 13...thats just a waste IMO, why bother having that much power if you don't know how or can't use it? Its just wasted money.
The mentality of most is to just add more power to make their car faster, instead of maximizing the use of the power they have and in turn run faster times. Once the car is making use of 100% of its power at the track and it can't possibly go any faster....then add more power.
That has always been my take on it anyways, I like efficiency....I've spent nearly as much in supporting mods to make use of every last horsepower than I have making that horsepower in the first place.
That is why I like the all-motor game, sure its more money for less power, but there is alot more set-up and fine tuning of the whole car in order to make it go fast, which is efficient...and I like that.

I agree with your post though. You have a good outlook on what to do when building up a car.

Nice kill. and reasons for having a 300-350 or even 400whp car vary in what you want it for imo. i do agree with most part of ur post. but i just wanted my car to be much faster than how it was on m62. the power feels great, and its there when i needed specially to shut down other cars that give out good races or think there faster than everything outthere. am not such a track person and to be honest ive been there only once and i sucked haha. i have a turbo lsj and yes i ran mid 13s because i couldnt lauch right and couldnt use my cars power. some people just dont admit it. but then again it was my first time and i think i would do it one or two times more just because is fun. i really dont take it so serious in that sence. although if i were i would deff know where and how to start
again nice kill and am pretty curious of how this LE5/LSJ motor is set

Like I said thats my take on things, some people do want a fast car and could care less about track times and I realize that too, all the more power to ya.
If your interested, I have a full build thread here:
