Anyone else notice this?

When I first got my SS Turbo every old pos civic, and by that I don't mean every Civic is a POS, I like a well done Civic, I mean like an 89, with bumpers falling off mismatched rims etc, wanted to race.

Then I get the exhaust and hood on and now they don't. Now its the nicer done Civics, and Eclipses.

Has anyone else noticed something similar?

i had a craptastic b series swapped crx try and pick on me today. i waited till hit opened the vtec worm hole, dropped to second at 50, and did a rolling burnout past him.

he wasn't thrilled.

Lol I could say something about how I do that to Cobalts...but I won't...

I think you should have respect for any car that's capable, civic or not. Calling the B series craptastic is just ignorant...

I've actually been challenged by someone in a Civic but I didn't really bite it was too early in the morning. I don't know what they hope to prove except that their car is still lame .

LOL. I had a newer Mazda 3 with 4-5 teenagers in it try to race me today as I was going home from work. They were behind me at a light and I could see them pointing at the SS on the back of my car and talking about it(I have weak lip reading skills). Well after the light turns green I bring it up to about 45 normally as do they. Then they get on my left and right when they get to my rear quarter he floors it. So I let them get about 4 cars ahead and then I shift to 3rd and walk past them at 3/4 throttle.

Has anyone noticed that just about everyone that owns a mazda 3 races that thing around everywhere?

Those cars feel much faster than they are when you drive them. The steering is quick and direct, there's good throttle response, and the suspension is nice and firm. Versus other base model compacts, I really don't think anything else stacks up... Civic, Jetta, Cobalt, you name it. I could see how someone who knows little about cars would believe they were quick.

They're really nice little cars, though. If I wasn't so fixated on buying a track-capable car I'd have considered a GT (not MS3, they're $32k in Canada). My girlfriend has one and we'll take it most places if we're just commuting since it's more comfortable... She did, however, think it was fast just like those kids.

...Until I took her for a back road blast in mine

I concour with the op .... I can be driving around minding my own business, and out of no where ill get some punk teenage kid in some **** ass car try and race me. Alot of the times, ill just slow down and make sure they see me laughing at them when they go by. If the mood strikes me right though, I will get on the Balt and let them check out my tailights

He said A craptastic b series civic. Nowhere did he imply that they are all craptastic. Settle down boy jeez!

I feel like "TVS-powered monster with traction issues" is a more fitting title. I'm willing to bet there was no braking involved in his maneuver.

i rarely pick on anyone. i more or less just cruise around. the kid eyeballed me as i left the gas station. purposely pulled out next to me, nailed the gas and looked back at me.

i have seen some pretty shitty b series. puking oil everywhere. smoking their asses off, won't rev past 6500. then there are those who rev to 11k and put down over 800whp.

a header, intake, and a fart cannon does not constitute as a good b-series.

good b-series.

I know you are still a noob, but learn to take area47's word as gold. He is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable people on here as far as the cobalt goes especially tuning with hptuners from what I have read.

Oh, and not in my town no one really races me all the high schoolers have seen me out at the speedway and want nothing to do with my car.

good b-series.
then I retract my statement, I misunderstood it as a condescending statement against an entire line of motor

meh it's all relative...what I might call slow someone might not feel is slow. So it doesn't matter regardless. I shouldn't have contested his opinion, since it is an opinion
