Ok so maybe i didn't beat him that badly, but the story goes like this...

I was following him on a side road for a good 5 miles just listening to that V8 pur. My friend has one with exhaust work and it is amazing. Ever since I got the Cobalt I've wanted to run him and see how things stand, they are high-13 cars consistantly. So we finally make it to the highway and we both turn in the same direction, the lanes are wide open and he starts pulling away. I don't think much of it, that thing has some nice torque so I tool along and then all of the sudden i realize he's running! He's now a good 4-5 car lengths ahead, I pull 2nd up to 6800 rpms and bang 3rd, I'm starting to catch up! Once I hit 4th it was like he hit a brick wall. At the top of 4th I was even with the guy and we had to shut down. A couple lights later we got to talking and he was very impressed with the cobalt. I wouldn't say I ate him alive but to regain 5 cars and still pulling I'd call it a win.

 

You must be much much faster than him because its very hard to even pull 1 car lenght back if someone gets a jump even with a slightly faster car.

The S4 is only a 340hp V8 that does 0-60 in 5.3 sec. A stock STI/EVO do it quicker than that and a stock SRT4 does it in 5.5 sec.

S4 isn't impressive.

The RS4 is a 420hp V8 and is DEAD SEXY but still not that impressive.

I think the brick wall was him quitting the race. I don't really see you being able to pull back 5 cars on a 13 sec car. Plus they are not built for drag racing they are a top end car like every other german car. I don't know maybe your car is really fast but I think you should race your buddy before you call it a win.

The brick wall was the V8 choking itself. He was still gaining a fair amount of speed but I was catching up at a quicker rate.

I'd also like to mention that the S4's are 13 second cars, partially to do with the AWD launch capabilities.

And for all you nay-sayers, yes it did happen and yes I do consider it a win and yes my car is quite quick...although I wouldn't call it fast.

Yeah one tried to line up with me, I didnt go for a dead stop due to AWD killing my tractionless first. However on the freeway its still a VW.

top end car? an almost 4,000 lb awd sedan a top end car? no no. It's just heavy and kind of quick. Most people will run low 14's with those at about 100-101. My buddy has had one since he was 16 (his dad is a neural surgeon) and i raced him when i just had my slp's and a short throw expecting a fairly close race cause i didn't realize how heavy they were and it was an absolutely slaughter. I put a good 9 cars on him by 105-110...I believe this race good kill.
