C5 vs SS stage 1

To give you an idea how quick it is I was on my way home from my boys shop and a yellow c-5 pulled next to me at the redlight looked over laughed and nodded at me....I was like WTF you laughing but you just don't know. The other light turned yellow I brought it to 3500 then hit it. I pulled hard out the hole on the c5 but he caught me in third but did not pass I had about a 1/4 a car length by the end of the race.HAHAHA

The drag radials stop the spinning. Being that we are s/c we need to launch at a nice boost level to come out the hole for a quicker 60ft. Thats where you win the race! I think I will try to launch at 4500 next time...

Yea he was racing, but I don't think he knew how to shift great...and I believe it was manual. It was a convertible so its heavier. Corvettes only run 13's if you can drive them to do so. My brother has a 2001 Zo6 w(430whp411tq) that runs 11.7 ,but the other day he ran a 14.5 and 15.1 at the track cause he could not get traction. Well considering I smoked a g35 and a vette I think i'm in the 13's myself, but I will find out Saturday at the track!

g35s are as slow as 350 z's, my dad had a c5 in an auto, and the autos are just as fast as the 6 speeds, ask anyone on an ls1 forum, the thing shifts faster that anyone can go through the gears..... i really dont think the guy was getting on it, 350 hp in those, and traction in the autos is not a problem, unless you shut it off, they will go like a bat out of hell..... I loved that car, he got rid of it for a porsche, which i love just as much....

Its not a matter of **** speeds, its a matter of different gear ratios in the rear end.

Not only that, but the autos got 2 less gear ratios to work with, taller gearing, a fluid coupling torque converter, and more drivetrain loss.

They are not nearly as close as people would like to think, the autos are more than a few tenths slower.

Sounds about right. The auto C5's run mid 13's, the 6-speed C5's run low 13's, like 13.0-13.2.

Incorrect. Covertible only weighs 17 lbs heavier than targa top C5s.

You could say same thing about any other car. CSS can only run mid-low 14s if one can drive.
My brother has a 2001 Zo6 w(430whp411tq) that runs 11.7...
If this is true then he can't drive. My Z06 in NA form, it only has 380 rwhp and with DRs, I've run 11.7@119.

I don't know what the stage 1 CSS runs but generally speaking, I do believe stock for stock C5 has about 1 second ET advantage and ~5 mph (probably closer to 7 mph) trap speed advantage. So, can stage 1 close the gap or even be faster than a stock stock C5?

Also 2001 - 2004 C5 tend to be bit stronger than the previous years of C5 due to improved (LS6) intake manifold and few minor engine improvements.

I rode in a 2001 C5 (I believe it was a 2001) the other day as we were comparing cars. That damn car has a lot of power but he couldn't keep the car straight. I thought we were going to lose control through the first 3 gears. If those things could keep traction, they would be in the 12's stock.

Nice kill.
