Celica GT-S wtf
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/4...1cea304e8e.htm
So some of those posts in the link above are saying that with a chip mod and some bolt ons, the GT-S puts 190-200 whp. Thats pretty impressive if its true considering a stock GT-S is what 170hp.

hmm heres a vid of a celica beating a SS/SC.. not by much tho.

Depends on the year. The earlier GT-Ss revved higher than the last 2 years. I think they took 600rpms out of the rev limit, but kept the cam specs the same. So if you are "chipping" the later years for the old rev limiter, and then adding timing etc I could see a good gain in comparative power.
I think they were 180bhp at best. So, with the right boltons it is plausible to get that to the wheels if not the 190whp. That is pretty good, and really high rev. I have seen a couple turbos around and used to laugh at them, then I looked up the turbo kits and they are realistically making 260bhp and weighing, what about 2400lbs? pretty good combo if you ask me.

Yeah, the GT-S from the older years circa ~2003 have the lifters kick in at ~6000RPMs, and it's similar to Honda's VTEC. Once the lifters kick in at higher RPMs....it's like an extra boost. I have the same Toyota 2ZZ celica engine in my 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT...and I have to admit it's a sleeper with some basic performance upgrades. It's not as fast as a stock SS/SC, but it can keep up without any forced induction.

Also, bolt ons like stated above have put many GT-S owners into the 13's with traps of 100+
the yamaha built motor is fantastic and takes a beating even with constant lift... they had there issues with lift bolts but sure as hell no slouch
thats the correct generation

Is it just me or do I hear absolutely no whine from that cobalt? where's the s/c? he has an intake installed, that should make it scream the way he's revving it. Are you sure that's an SS/SC? He swings the camera around at the very end, but its dark and I can't make out any boost gauge.

apparently they're really slow, theres a supercharged manual one in my town that runs nos and only hits 14.8
A turbo one in buford but he only runs 14.6
They're not fast...and that's with some forged internals, but these were the newer ones, dunno about the older ones

the celica gt-s is no joke. my matrix xrs has the same 2zz engine. on the spray it will eat most sport compacts around here.

the gts is a great car that not to many people know about. i know they had tranny issues, but its pretty much a rsx with a lil better top end. A regular gt 5speed manual will absolutly rape you at autox if set up right. light and nimble. 140hp or whatever they came with, dont let it fool you cause it will straight up own your ass if the driver knows whats hes doing.

A. cant drive
B. are not running what they say they are running.
You give me ANY car that light and enough cash to do forced induction and forge the bottom end and i will run way faster than 14's. the gt-s's can hit 14's stock with a great driver. Forged and blown they should be MUCH faster.

back in michigan where i used to tool around there was a celica with the license plate "spikey" with all the ricer junk you can imagine. i always tried to get him to race, but no cigar.

there are alot of cars that are severly underestimated here. People talk about not underestimating the 2.2's and 2.4's then talk **** about celica gt-s's, integra gsr's, and v6 mustangs, etc.
I'll tell you all a little something. There are some fast ass celicas on stock blocks, there are some DAMN fast gsr's on stock blocks, and there are a few v6 mustangs running tens on the stock longblock/transmission. now come on guys. this is why ss.net has a dwindling reputation.
