heys guys, this ass i know has a 97 sunfire gt and hes all cocky cuz he spent some dough on internals and bolt ons like exhaust, intake, head, he says hes over 200 horses and wants to race in the spring, i know the LD9 makes like 135ish to the wheels, so he claims with these mods hes getting 70+ horse???? and says he can whip me i have an 06 SS with lsd, stock, for now, what do you guys think?

 

ohh and this guy said he beat a porshe boxter and test drove a ferrari lol.

who gives a **** if he test drove a ferrari what does that have to do with making a sunfire faster than a cobalt. I know a guy who owns a 05 360 modena and i drove that does that make my shitty ford ranger any faster... no (i wish though haha). take his ass to the track and leave him with his tail between his legs

 

I have a friend who has done EVERY, and I mean EVERY internal mod to a 3400 V6 in a Grand Am GT. He once got a 13.9 but usually gets 14.1. So if this guy has done a few internals on a sunfire motor, there is no way he'll take you. Do it from a dig to take full advantage of that LSD

 

does he have nitrous?? Why would he mod his internals for just I/H/E? Sounds like he's bs'ing or not telling your everything. I say you'll take him easily.

 

He must know someone at the dealership if he truly test drove one. Cars like those they dont let people test drive, its either buy it or dont buy it.

Make sure you get a good look at the engine before you commit to anything. The possibility is always there for F/I. At least if you guys race for cash, take a good long look!

What is it with the Sunfire & Cav crowd? I've had a lot of run in's with them myself, with nothing even close to a loss. Will they just **** off already ..

Race him at a track night, get it on video, and post it up for all to see. But before you race get a 15 second montage of him explaining how he is getting over 200 to the wheels on that lump.... That would earn you 5 stars from this corner...

 

i think they are all just jealous they drive crap cars and i know cuz i had a cav before but at least i knew it was crap and only raced civics if i felt the need to race thats about all i could beat lol

 

i have noticed the same thing with the jbody people too, its like they have something to prove, i too had a cavalier, and the comparison to a cav and an SS is night and day, i stil go on the jbody forums and u got people bashing the cobalt and stating untrue facts about it, one funny thing was a guy said he test drove it and was dissapointed cuz his J felt faster, well i looked at his profile and he must of had a few grand under that hood, plus a turbo set up......no **** your car feels faster, put that money in an SS now and see whats faster, my buddy has a Z24, 01 and he swears he will be faster than me 1 day, and hes gonna get the GM charger, well i just keep tellin i aint stayin stock for long so you got a long way to go lol! i dont get people sometimes man, i didnt get the car to compare and bash others i got it cuz my cav was slow and outdated and i wanted something nice inside and out with decent power.

 

Right now I own a 2001 Z24 along with my SS's but a couple years back I had a 1992 Oldsmobile Achieva SCX W41. The W41 was the baddest of the Quad 4's rated at just under 200hp with a redline of just over 7000rpms.

The SCX used a 4.56 final drive ratio and a standard LSD. It was by far the fastest Quad 4 powered car out there in stock form but magazines ripped it apart. From a dig my 2001 Z24 might keep up for a little bit but the SCX had some serious high end pull.

As for a Sunfire 2.4TC with mods beating a SS/SC, I doubt it. Unless there is serious $$$ or a nice Turbo or S/C.

 

Unless your buddy has but quite a bit of $$ into his sunfire, or has a decent turbo setup, you should take him pretty easily. No way he has 200hp out of a sunfire with simple boltons.
