Well, it was a fun night!

i was out for a ride in the cobalt, near Mexico, cruising slowly when a X6M and an R35 GTR merged in front of me getting on a ramp that merge onto mexican highway...
i decided to follow behind the GTR just to see what would happen, i knew if anything happened i would lose.... lol

He clearly had an exhaust but i had no idea if he had anything else...

So i did quick and short 3rd gear pull just to get next to him and let him hear im not stock... for what it matter.. lol i rarely do that but it was a GTR... we dont see that many here hehe

Then i did a thumbsup meaning ''nice car!'' and he replied, i tried to say wanna do a quick pull? just to see how slower i was... he seemed to agree so i floored it from 60mph in
3rd, he seemed to have slept for a brief moment then i hear him nail it, but he was not in the right gear, i was may be 1.5 car ahead when i heard him downshift.

I never thought he would try to catch me but he did so i was hoping the little cobalt would do her best lol i nls into 4th and i was still ahead but i could hear him catchup slowly, but surely... he was next to me by 125 and begun to pull faster and faster but i could see the passenger clearly when he was next to me so it was not that bad...

after the run the run i switched lane and he slowled down to my right, the passenger had a huge smile of surprise lol and asked me what was done to the balt, i think ... couldnt understand with wind sound...

got a few pulls later that are in video but he always had the jump... it happened so quick couldnt tell him to wait for 3 honks... then the X6M got next to me and he also had a huge grin, he was the tuner of the GTR and his X6M, he own a shop here that only do high end cars like that he said. He asked what i had then wanted to do a pull, that you can see in the video, he forgot to activate his full tune he said later, i dont remember exactly the spec, i think full tune he had 690crank hp or 550awhp... not sure...

anyway after that the GTR guy asked me to go to the track with them, i followed them there and we had some good fun, they were truly impressed, they were always saying everybody i pulled on the X6M lol but almost everybody was starring at the GTR lol

they thought i was running nitro at first, when i told them i had about 800$ on the, and the intake only was 350$ he was even more impressed.

The X6M had a downpipe and something else i dont remember, on full tune did 12.7@107mph with 1.7 60'


The GTR had full exhaust and tune, they said it had over 600awhp, but im not going to say its true or false.. , he said it felt a lot quicker than stock,
it was his first run ever on a track with his car and went very easy on the launch he did
11.8 @ 122mph with 1.9 60' not in automatic mode.
On friday night they dont prep the track at all and its always more slippery than on the road... i did tried a run vs the X6M even knowing it would not be good for me... and he destroyed me lol i had to let off in 2nd gear or i was hitting the limiter...
still did 13.7 @109 but if i had that kind of traction i assume i could be in the 12's..


Heres a vid of the run, i also included a run vs a E92 M3, seemed stock, never posted it since im sure most people would said he was not WOT ... but he was and he went WOT first, i still been able to pull slightly before end of 3rd gear then i hit the rev limiter, it was 1st real test after the intake/dp install...

Anyways, good runs. The GTR seems like it's near stock if not stock. It is definitely not 600awhp if he's downshifting all the way.

Im getting a cell phone car mount so we can film tonight.

 

I had a good grip on the wheel and didnt care about where the camera was aiming, (my phone) i concentrate on driving but i think i got them in camera not too bad... lol

I agree the GTR did not seem to have 600awhp, i was also very confused even if he said it was faster than stock, he said he was not sure he could walk away from me when i start from 3rd gear, if he was stock... even his tuner agreed... that really seem weird to me, for sure he would pull at higher speed or from lower speed though, and we both agreed..lol

I dont know , i always had good results from a 3rd gear pull.
I may have been very lucky i dont know why ,from all the cars ive ran from 3rd gear since i am tuned, i was either catchin up after they got a jump or pulled them or it was the same, the first one to actualy beat me was that GTR. (I know... a tons of modified cars would leave me standing still... )

good old naperville dragway. I used to be there all the time. 20min across the border form me. Is there still a good showing of cars up that way.

 

Yeah its not too bad, i rarely go to the track, best times is on car shows, the few times i went to the track it was during weekend when they prep the track, make all the difference vs friday night.
