So a guy at my shop claims hes making over 300hp in his eclipse. Its a black 2000' eclipse gt v6 with a red racing stripe. i asked him what he had done to it and his words exactly "just about anything you can do to it besides being boosted and internals." I was like oh really, intake and exhaust huh? he goes, "and some pullies and what not, should be making over 300hp." he said he raced a stage 2 cobalt and beat it, he said the cobalt pulled away at 125 but thats because he let off. I wasnt going to waste my gas, until he said hes beat every cobalt in town. and the fact that i had at least 10 people i work with beg me to shut this kid up. Street racing is bad, but its goin down tonight, will post vids with the results. mods are in my vbgarage.

Lol... I raced a stock 2000 v6 gt Eclipse w/ a 250 lb passenger in my car when I was stock. He was just by himself...
Outcome was me ahead by a car... they're slow... lol...

intake exhaust?! Lol.... wow is he even tuned? He prob. doesn't even have full exhaust... prob. just swapped from the cat-back.

i raced my buddies eclipse gts when i was stock and he had an exhaust + CAI.

Dig i put a 1 cars on it by 80 (I sucked at launching still)
40mph roll i put bus lengths on him by 115

race him for a tank of gas

lol, just to tell you how slow the v6 gt is, my roommate a few years ago had one... had just about every bolt on you could buy and was port and polished.

i had a 03 mazdaspeed protege w/ a EBC @ 14 lbs boost estimated 210 whp, and he test drove my car and he thought i had well over 300 hp...

we never got to race but he always thought his car was faster until he drove mine. we slaughtered another v6 eclipse by a bus or more. they are not all they are cracked up to be. i'd def say you should be him, unless he is spraying or something.

 

results are in. we did 2 races, first was from a 40 roll and second was from a dig. i had a passenger with me video taping(both of us around 180lbs), he was by himself(~190). got them both on camera, but i cant find my usb cable, ill have to pick one up at the store tomorrow(sorry!) but i should have the vid up tomorrow.

first race, he didnt know how to line up next to me so i was about a bumper ahead when i honked, i let him catch up before i mashed it. so he got about a half a car jump before i started to reel him in. top of second i was maybe about a car or so ahead, third i pulled 3-4 cars and shut it down before 100.

second race, he wanted to honk this time. i took him off the line, pulled a few cars in second, and a few more in thrid, by the time i shut down i was maybe half way into 3rd.

 

nice he must have a little more than he is leading on cause like i said 210 hp MSP had a bus length on a GT with boltons.

3-4 cars isn't exactly a massacre but good win non the less, what did he have to say about it?

hes not cal spec, he said the fed specs are a lot lighter and make more power, plus he said hes done a lot of weight reduction. so whatever that means.

I've had two similar cases, one with a 3G GT and the other with a 4G GS.

Both wanted to run at the same time, so we ran. I CLEARLY pulled them both 2 cars almost instantly, and yet the guy with the 3G was like "You almost got me..."

The guy with the 4G said "Oh...I was only shifting at 4k..."

I wasted gas that day.

if your refering to what i said, were talking about the difference between to cars, i pulled a bus length on one in a far inferior car...

3-4 cars is more than a bus length but i would have thought it would have been more like 2 bus lengths lol.
