pretty much like said, if you have to ask, the answer is probably no...

with only a cai you cant have more than 215hp and you said he LOOKS stock, which if he is he has 260hp. I mean he would have to miss like 2 gears and you to drive perfect for it to be a race imo. I would beef your car up (stage 2 +) before trying the Mustang, because minors mods on Mustangs work well...you go messing with him and he has a set of gears and pullies (or more) and he'll rape you.

hands down..

No mustang gave you problems when you where stock? what about a Mach 1, or a 01,03-04 cobra? I ran a 13.2@107 with just weld in mufflers and everything else stock on my Mach 1, you dont think that would of gave you a challenge?

THREAD JACK> hey jackalope, how bout sending some of your MASSIVE AMOUNT of good rep over this way < end of thread jack

Kind of a funny off topic, but somewhat realated, story to add here. I was at the track for midnight mayham and had a 06 V6 stang next to me in the line. I overheard the guy telling his freind that he could ride along with him on this run because he was not worried about weight because it was "just a cobalt chick car" that he was going up against. I was like WHAT!!! but I did not say anything to him. We got up to where we were next in line and as we were rolling up our windows we made eye contact. He looked at me and laughed, and I was thinking you just really do not know anything about cars do you. By the way, this was also when my car was bone stock, it had maybe 1k milles on it, and I was doing some base runs. Anyway, we staged and launched, and of course he got me off the line being he is RWD. Funny thing is I caught him by the 60' mark and proceeded to beat him by around 10-15 lengths. He ran a mid 16 at just under 80mph and I a 14.6 at 96 mph. When we were rolling back around to restage I looked him dead in the eye and asked him how it felt to be schooled by my bone stock chick car then started to laugh my ass off. He then turned off to the pit area and did not even get back in line to run again. I guess he did not want to race me again. Granted, I knew I would beat him, but I will admit that this victory felt really good.

a mid 16 at under 80.... i find that almost impossible. i ran a 15.0 bone stock with a 2.3 60' in my v6 and people have gotten 2.0 60's stock....

well as an owner of both cars i will say the gt will get you stock. i know its hard to admit the stang can beat a cobalt. stage 2 you will walk him pretty good. just race the guy maybe he cant drive, like i have trouble launching mine because i have so little time behind the wheel on it.

I will find the time slip and scan it on my computer at work on Monday and show you. For one, we are at 1800' altitude here which makes a little bit of differance, no much, and for two the guy was maybe 18 years old and it I believe it was a auto. Regardless, that is what he ran, and I stomped his ass. I find it hard to believe your bone stock v6 stang ran a 15.0 ever, but that is my opinion.

why? s197 v6's run RIGHT with sn95 gt's. almost perfectly equal hp, fairly close in torque, and the v6 has a gearing advantage...weight is similar too. Look up the s197 v6 mustang, people can run 14's with them bone stock. And the autos on average run 15.3-15.5 some lower some higher, but mid 16's...that's like running a low 16/ high 15 in a balt with a mid 80mph trap speed. It just doesn't seem right at all. what'd the guy do? You can launch from idle and run a mid 15 in an auto s197 v6, it being an auto makes it even more weird because he couldnt have missed a shift or anything. Im just bewildered by how someone could run that, it is just ridiculously slow for that car.

IDK why he ran that time, just that he did. There could be many factors here. For one he was just a kid, two he could have had a full tank of gas and extra weight, three it was around 106 degrees out here that night, and four we are at an altitude of 1800 feet which believe it or not could add anywhere from .5 to a full 1.0 to your time. Factor in all those things and maybe it will make more since. I was bone stock running on a blend of 1 gallon of 100 octane and 1 gallon of 91 octane, so my car had only around 2 gallons of gas in it, but I was bone stock. I really do not care if you belive me or not, but he ran what he ran. Maybe your v6 mustang ran a 15.0, but I have never seen a stock one run that out here. They run in the 16's all day long.

under 80 mph trap speed = super fishy. are you sure it was an 06 and not like a 94...? lol i mean dude...they trap like 93-94 stock, you are talkin the same kinda difference as an ss/sc trapping in the mid 80's. Im not even saying it didnt happen, im just saying there had to be more to the story here. i dont have any slips for my v6 because i truthfully don't really car much about what i run with it, i just do it sometimes for fun cause i live close to a track, but if you look around at any forums or test drives or anything they run low 15's all day and some people hit 14's. Not tryin to be an ass, but you gotta see why that is fishy. a low 15@ low-mid 90's car running mid 16's trapping under 80...that just seems very odd. the trap speed mostly, ive seen lots of cars run way slower than they should, but not 15mph less trap speed than they should.

Well, stock for stock, the mustang will take you from either a dig or a roll. I know this for a fact because my sister has one. When I first got my balt she pulled me by a fender from a 40 roll. Then with me adding the airbox mod and a 3.0" pulley .. i was putting a car to a car and a half on her consistently. Bottom line .. stock for stock .. the mustang will win. good luck tho

They wont put a 400 hp engine in there cuz a bigger one than a 4.6 wont fit, there is hardly any room in the egnine bay on the 99-04 stangs. And i wouldnt say ford is gay, i mean they didnt slap a SS badge on a car that is supercharged and still only has 205hp.

....when was this? I dono why it matters how power is made, the blown 4.6 in the cobra makes more horsepower than an ls2, is smaller, lighter, and has more modding potential, so whats the problem with it?

I never said anything about the cobra bud.

Mr troll up above stated how it was dumb to put the SS on a 205hp 4 cylinder
so i was merely pointing out that the mighty Taurus "SUPER HIGH OUTPUT!!!" had a v6 in it that pushes a blistering 230hp......

Im just being facetious dont mind me.

your other buddy was talking about how ford is gay cuz they didnt just put a 400hp n/a v8 in there, and i was pointing out that it may have been better that way. btw, that WAS super high output for an n/a v6 back when the SHO was made. Think about it.

lol dude, i dont know why you think i give a **** if you talk about a damn taurus, but before you start talking realize that there have been quite a few ss vehicles that would get beat by that taurus. Who cares what is called ss or sho? there are slow cars and fast cars either way who gives a ****?
