Dont underestimate those newer challengers

had a run in with a challenger srt8. it wasnt a line up, 3 honks, lets go race, more of like a he tried to do a flybye and i decided to shut him down.

anyway, i see him in my rearview and as soon as traffic clears i see him switch lanes and stomp it. were doing about 50 so i throw it in 2nd and also stomp it. he gets ahead about a car, which is fine considering he hit it a lot sooner than me. the thing that gets me is it took me all the way till the end of 3rd gear to pull even. once i get a nose on him after shifting into 4th he lets off with a confused look on his face and goes away.

im pretty sure this was a newer challenger, the 392. it had wide wheels, was silver with two black racing stripes, had HID's and all that jazz. also, it was pretty loud. sounded awesome tho.

if any of you guys encounter them be careful, i dont think a m62 balt could hang and i was suprized myself seeing as those challengers weigh 2 tons.

duh! why would anybody underestimate a 470hp and 470 lb/ft torque muscle car? they are beast. my buddy just bought a SRT8 Chrysler 300C which has 420hp and is pretty damn fast

Cuz they weigh as much as the Vatican maybe... that's just off the top of the old noodle... 4100+ lbs without a driver, gas, and other fluids.

Camaro= 3800lbs curb weight
Mustang=3650lbs curb weight

Now you put forced induction on the challenger... then we are talking about something special. but lets face it, how many people are going to go out and put a blower on their challenger that already costs 45,000 bux?

I hear you on that one. But perhaps it was an older one with bolt ons and a tune? I dunno, just guessing. How loud was it? I love how the big hemis sound. That 6.4 would be a beast in a lighter car.

470HP and 470FTLBS with good gearing for acceleration and top speed. I'm still happy I can take the Challenger RTs!

any vehicle with a bunch of torque means you can have a lot of weight and it won't phase it..especially a dinky 300 pounds if your comparing cars

umm you realize that they didnt start making the challenger again until 2008 and they didnt start making a srt8 version until 2009 so when you say older ones you mean 1 and 2 year old challangers?

I loved the Challengers before, and the new ones make me love them even more.

They're the best looking of the new gen muscle IMO, and now they have the power to contend as well.

I want too many cars... I need to win the lotto...

the new challengers say 392 on the side of the front fenders and it stands out very well. i'd say no matter what challenger you were up against it was a good run... especially if the driver looked confused... that is win in itself..

I agree, it is without a doubt better looking than the Mustang and Camaro.

Gimme a Boss 302 before any version of the Camaro or any Version of the Challenger though. Dodge's build quality just still isn't on the same level as that of GM and Ford but this newest Challenger which I drove recently is much better than the last Challenger.

I like the boss 302 but I think that stock it's a bit overpriced cuz you can get a bitchin suspension and tune on a gt for less than the Boss. BUUUUT the resale value on the Boss is WAY higher than a gt.

X2billion. I wanna win the lotto too. I already have like 50 cars on my list. If I could have the looks and motor from the challenger and the weight of the mustang it would be awesome. And another thing is Dodge transmissions blow dogs for quarters.

They are all top end. All that weight slows them down initially, but as soon as they are moving, they are not to be taken lightly. Mid-high 12s @ 112+

idk, it seemed like they were pretty series about it when they released the proto type version but that was still when they were undecieded about whether they were gonna continue to make Vipers. Now that they are gonna keep making them they prob wont release a srt10 challanger

Too awesome. My buddy has a Caliber SRT-4, I can't imagine it being any heavier with a V8 .

Conecpt = a LONG way from hitting the streets, I'd wager there is as much of a chance for an AWD/Turbo Cruze as a production SRT10 Challenger.

thats true but when they weren't sure if they were gonna continue the viper I would have no problem believing that they would make a srt10 challenger.they made an srt10 ram after all
