I was driving today in my tvs redline just finished tuning and a genesis came fly up behind me. He was reving at me in town and I let it blow by me. When I got out of town he got right on my rear bumper like so close I could touch him. He down shifted and got right next to me then guned it going 60 and I droped to 3rd and did the same. I had like 2 cars on him by 90. Then he got behind me again right on my butt and when there was a straight away he got next to me and waited then he gunned it. I waited till he was a good car in front of me then I droped to 3rd and I flew right past him like he was nothing.

The genesis has a 3.8l v6 306hp but there quarter mile time is like 14.1 and a 0-60 time of 5.5

nice! seriously, the guys around here who drive those are cocky as hell! they show up at the local hangouts, and they keep completely to themselves. they don't make any effort at all to mingle with other car guys. I tried to talk to one dude, who by the way has the turbo 4 version, and all he wanted to do was talk about why his car was superior to mine in every way! I just wanted to compliment him on his ride, and he told me he couldn't understand why I would waste my money on a pos FWD!!??! I lawl'd at him, and told him we could take a little drive down to an empty mexican highway any time he wanted. Nice work on the kill!! and I LOVE the whine sc's make!

 

People hype up the genesis. They are land barges that look good. But yeah good kill bro!

word... the coupes are ugly and should not have carried the genesis name... i think it has ruined the premium name of hyundai... not that im a hyundai fan or anything.....

Eh, I think they're sharp little cars. I've raced a few 2.0T's here and there... Not even remotely a threat.

At least in the 2.0T application yes. Making just over 200hp and weighing almost as much as my mother's cadillac, I consider that a bit too heavy. I actually like the cars very much, but I have no delusions about what they are. Weighs almost as much as an Evo X if I remember correctly. Even in the V6 application, it looks good, and sounds good, and is quick, but it is a bit too heavy for my tastes.

Theyre a better platform than a cobalt, but they are more expensive. RWD cough cough

im sure a bolt on genesis would easily beat the RL

 

how do they perform better than the cobalt? They dont handle better plus they are slower... Sure they are RWD but you need power to go fast. They look better than the cobalt though.

 

i think the the coupes look pretty sweet if done right. give it a year or two and the aftermarket for them should be pretty good. but as they sit now, theyre def not the fastest thing on the road to say the least. but i would still take the turbo coupe any day

 

the one thing i dont get about the genesis coupe 3.8, is that its identical to the 07-08 350z as far as hp and all that goes, but the HR z's run like 13.4's on average (13.1 some of them) stock while the genesis runs low 14's average. its wierd.

Yeah I like the design of the car but its the 300 hp and the quarter mile of like 14 sec that I dont like. He had no chance against my tvs now a normal sta2 or somthing different story. I am sure if he had a lot of bolt ons he might be a car in front of me or somthing. But then it would be time to pulley down to a mans pulley lol.

 

you people are pretty funny dumping on the hyundai. I think they look awesome. picture the same car with a different badge on it changes everything. They are a little bit on the heavy side but they are stil a decent platform and I have seen some quick 2.0T's around lately

 

the v6s have blowers and turbo kits already... Id do a single turbo kit with some forged guts, it would be plenty mean
