Egh...I was just defending the Celica not being a slow car rather than being faster than a SS. You guys got hella fast cars, I'm not going to argue that. It will take a properly modded NA GTS to beat a stock s/c SS, and a greddy charged one to keep up with a stage II SS. But if I had a Honda hatch and I had as much money as you guys need for I/H/E, tune, and stage II then the Honda might end up becoming faster than your SS per dollar invested into the vehicle (turbo or built nitrous motor). So as I said, hp per dollar doesn't matter at the track when you're losing. The Celica may have a worse hp per dollar ratio than your SS models, but you have a worse hp per dollar ratio than Hondas.

I would never race a TC but I think they are pretty nice little economy cars. Look good imo, cheap, reliable, lots of aftermarket, good audio options, a surprising amount of interior room. I was looking at buying one before the wrx. Sometimes I wish I did so I wouldnt be dropping money into a car....

Toyota/Scion will never be the fastest thing on the road....with the esp to the Supra. But they are taking over the domestic market and for good reason with the quality of cars they are.....

As far as racing a TC or celica. Well they always rev but I never waste my time. The fastest Celica I've ever seen was that one that just ran a 12.8 and thats not much competition. I do like the styling though...

wow, that just blows my mind b/c I see about 50+ TC's a day......and im not joking in the least. I live near the DC Metro area, between several major cities, so I see all kinds of cars commuting every day, many of which are TC's. They seem to driven primarily by girls under the age of 20 of whom their loaded parents bought it for, or cocky young guys who think its some sort of race car.

CycnicTX: how you have 303awhp!?! lol I'm not saying you don't, but my roomates STI w/ a full Agency Power turboback + the Injen CAI and an open ECU tune laid down a hair less than 300awhp. And thats an STI w/ MORE done to it, lol. Weird....

Ok Guys!!!

we drive cobalts!!!

The TC's are nice looking cars

How can we bash them? They may be slow.. but so are 2.2 cobalts

Now if this was a ferrari forum and people talked about TC's always wanting to race, it may be a different story.. but this is a "cobalt" forum

Anyone who thinks thier cobalt is the epitome of the automotive world has a very narrow mind. I love mine.. but seriously..

The tC camry engine (2AZ) and the Celica GTS engine (2zz) are starting to get up there aftermarket wise. It's taking time. Plus your AWD platform is wayyy better for the drag strip. We all know properly boosted tC's can do some thrashing, and there's also a 350 hp NA tC out there. As far as Celicas go, we're getting close to 200 whp NA, and there will be a couple 500-600 whp 2zz builds this year. But when it comes to the average M/T tC or GTS...we're not as fast. But the tC's deff are decent looking cars to look at, especially when dropped.
