Encounter with a 'SRT-4'

I was on my way back from RS Strauss where I was picking up some cheapo plastic floormats for this winter when I saw a Neon in that burnt orange color. I caught up to him after a minute and saw that it had 'SRT-4' attached to the upper right side of the back. My first bullshit alarm went off- it didn't look like a SRT-4 and the SRT-4 tag was above where it normally is--the right center of the trunk...

We were next to eachother at the next light and I confirmed it--that was no SRT-4. Just a base Neon with the SRT-4 logo on the back.

I rolled my window down and said 'So, thats an SRT-4?'

He replied, "Yeah, is that the new Cobalt?"

I said, "Yeah, it is, you wanna run with it?"

He goes, "Nah, I don't run with those cars *smirk*"

That gave me a good laugh because his actual 132hp Neon doesn't run with my car

At the light, he gunned it and I reacted similarly. I spun my tires for a second since the roads were wet, as did he. After the tires gripped, my LS destroyed his 'SRT-4' within seconds...

I wish I could have caught another red light with him, but he turned off into a jughandle... Guess he couldn't live up to his SRT-4 logo on the back...

Man that badge adds 40 HP. I bet you didnt know this but if you put the "Supercharged" badge on a SS N/A It will run with an SS/SC

I just really hope that ppl don't start doing that. I have hear a couple of people with n/a cobalts thinking about it and putting the SS wing on.

I dont care if you put the badge/wing on your car. There are a few rules you need to follow when doing so. I dont mind you having the looks of the SS/SC but 2 major rules must be followed at all times.

1.) DO NOT RACE another care under any circumstances (unless you follow the notes of # 2)

2.) If you have to race someone make sure you roll the window down and do the neighborly thing and talk to the other driver. Make sure hes fully aware you do not have a S/C and you just badged your car and threw the wing on there.

this should eliminate any confusion

I've ranted about my feelings on fakers on this site... Hell, I'm driving a baseline (sigh...) and I refuse to put anything remotely SS on it. I actually went on Ebay to buy one of those Cobat license plate covers and while I meant to preserve the low bid of some other Cobalt owner to bid on another one and accidently bought a SS one. When I got it, I took the "SS" off, bought a Chevrolet symbol from Autozone and painted it yellow with my touch-up paint, put it where the SS used to be and it looks like a million bucks, it's original AND I avoid the faker charge! WOO-HOO!

Now if I only had the $$$ for a SS/SC...

Just get a turbo with I/H/E and you'll be faster than an SS/SC
