the 300zx TT vq30det motor is one of biggest piles of **** to work on, right up there with LT1 camaro's, and 3000gt vr4's.

Really? Pretty sure most adults are smart enough to go to the drag strip.

guys, guys. if i had known everyone was gonna start arguing over this thread, i would note have posted it lol. i agree that it was a retarded thing to do, but that wasnt the point. not trying to make excuses, i would not recommend street racing to anyone, unless of course it was a closed road, in a controlled environment, and during the daytime. But thats just my opinion. to be honest, that was literally the first time i had raced my car, and quite possibly the last time as well. im guessing at some point anyone can get that itch to want to go fast, and at that particular time, it happened to be me.
i live my life a quarter mile at a time! lol jk
thanks for reading.

Hush now on piling the LT1 in with those other turds! One questionable distributor, and the **** alarms go off! Now if you added GM's 3.4 60° V6, from the mighty Grand Am GT's...

I don't hate the LT1, just in the maro it's a pain in the ass. I like working on LT1 in the impala lots of room.

LOL at working in a 3KGT those are terrible to work on. The 300ZX was never a drag car . They are fast and make good numbers on the dyno but most I've seen at the strip are much slower than the dyno numbers would indicate. On the highway they rip and they do look damn sexy cruising with the t-tops down.

You tellin' me?!?!? I had to swap out engines (unfortunately found I had just a little hole in the #1 piston - found its better to unwire everything, then drop the k-member to take the engine out - the good thing though is that the engine then has its own built in roll-about! And let's not get started on those two back plugs. On the bright side, changing the oil is the breeze of breezes on that thing, as is the fuel rails. I'd say more annoying than crappy, though. I would like it if they didn't stick a cylinder and a half under the friggin windshield.

Congrats on the kill, and yes they arent as fast as youd think, but remember this article....

Quick Test: 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS - First Drive - Motor Trend

Nissan 0-60 Times & Nissan Quarter Mile Times | Nissan Skyline GTR 0-60, Maxima 0-60, Altima SE-R, Murano, 350z, 2012 370z and 2011 Titan 0 to 60 stats!

says the 90 300ZX TT and 89 Vette are the same in the 1/4 mile. with some mods to the 300 and the GMS1 in the OP's car, it probably should've been a better race.
