I read enough posts on ls2gto.com to keep me from trying the B&M, although there is a fix for that B&M flaw that I've seen posted several times.

Yea we did that....lol no hope for us. We impacted the ny-locks in so hopefully it'll hold this time. I was so frustrated I was about to put the stock one back in..but apparantly some parts got lost or else I was going to buy the Lou's short stick. If it acts up again I'm just going to have to get the GMM

I was driving home when a pair of deer decided to jump into the road out of nowhere and stop what seemed like 10 feet in front of me. I hit and killed not one, but two of them. New hood, bumper, both fenders, and radiator support on the way.

I'm actually using the GMM Ripshift and Lou's Short Stick for the stock knob. I loved the GMM before installing Lou's Short Stick, but the feel is absolutely perfect after it.

Well if it acts up, then I'll go that route and get em' both. I haven't heard ANY problems from people with those. Surprisingly enough, if I do get rid of the B&M I know a few people on the forum who want to buy it, even though they know about all the problems

I don't know how B&M dropped the ball on that one, I've always heard great things about their products for other cars.

They are a great company but like you said, I don't know what happened. I even bought the "new upghraded" version since they supposedly fixed all the problems people were having, but apparantly not.

Check the forum for the fix that a few people have figured out.

Stage 2 with an intake or exhaust is closer to a S197 (2005+) Mustang GT than a GTO.

Is that in terms of 1/4 performance or measuring pull where driver and traction aren't as much of a factor (i.e. a roll)?

That would be from a roll, the GT will still take a Stage 2 in the 1/4. On a perfect day and with a excellent driver a Stage 2 SS/SC might see 13.6 if there lucky.

From a roll could always put around 1.5 cars on a stock S197 GT. In my GTO from a roll GT's are usually 5-6 cars back by 100mph and the distance just keeps getting bigger with every mph.

are you talking pure stage 2? as in NO other mods? if so i think it would be a damn good race between a new GT and an ss/sc, mainly because i have watched numerous GT's run, and know they can very possibly run low-mid 13's, but most tend to be in the mid-high 13's.

I'm not the most accurate judge of car lengths once it gets past 2, but that sounds in line with the results I've had against '05+ GT's.

Ouch. That's the first incident of B&M with upgraded bolts breaking that I have heard of. Granted, I don't pay as much attention to that issue as I used to.

From a roll is pretty much the only chance the SS/SC Stage 2 has. From a dig it gets mathmatically complicated. At the 1/4 each car seperatly will run close times but with much different trap speeds. The GT is geared for the first 1/8 and the Cobalt shines the last 1/8th. Basically they can run the close to the same times but be seperated by a few cars in the 1/4. I would say that the GT is a high 13 second car so is a SS/SC Stage 2 but it is much easier to get high 13's out of the GT.

i agree in majority here, i just want to say something real quick. i really do not want to turn this into an argument, i am just saying this because it is true and i don't want to get people confused. the gt is not geared for dig runs really. 3.31's or 3.55's stock (in 2007, you chose. in 2005-2006, the 3.55's were the only option). Neither of these are really geared for the 1/8th. The reason the gt will be quite a bit faster in the 1/8th is it has quite a large advanatage in torque. Now throw some 4.1's on it and then you are talking 1/8th gearing.
