If you actually want to win, never race an AWD car out of the hole
The SS S/C seems to be best from a slow roll, considering how hard it can be to launch.
Upgrade to a smaller pulley with a chip, install an intake and exhaust, and then go from a steady roll. The results should be much more in your favor

To be honest the other half of my car club are Evos, I would say out of 50 guys 80 percent or high to mid 12's and the remaining 20 percent or in the 11's -low 12's. Take that with a grain of salt

Once the cars are no longer stock, there really is no validity of getting into a pissing match over speed. When mods are available, which they always are, the outcome is usually only a matter of how much you’re willing to spend. Heck, if you were so inclined you could make a 9 second Yugo, but it probably wouldn’t’ t gain you anyone’s respect. Which is what this debate is really all about.
If people aren’t respecting your Cobalt now, they are not going to respect it after you mod it either. Some people are just that way.
Stock for Stock the EVO is a much better car. The Cobalt would probably give it some trouble from a roll, but that’s about it. Handling, dig, and overall utility go the way of the EVO. Looks, well their always subjective, and your opinion is really the only one that’s matters.
